Nitrogen ???

GMC 16 slt 4x4.

BFG k02 cant never keep all 4 corners the same psi.

Also the dang tire display is off or something.

Example

Driver front tire when I go to air it up and look at the cabin display it shows the dang rear tire getting the air.

How do you fix this?

Doesn't the bcm/tmps recognize which tire?

Is it better to just use nitrogen?

any pros or cons?.6c7d39a6065d13e3a382ef9eca9127b3.jpga98ef3ac296f80cf903fae78e2025ef0.jpg

I sure will.
Thank you.

There are people that say nitrogen is a waste. But fact is it works. I had onstar sent a report that said low tire pressure can void powertrain warranty. I went to the dealer and they needed 2hours to look at it. So drove 5 miles up the street and got nitrogen never had a problem after that.

I periodically check my tires with a tire gauge and try to get them all at the same pressure.  I use my tpms as a "backup". Tire pressure fluctuates with outside temperature and heat when driving.  All four of your wheels aren't exposed to the exact same conditions so there will be slight variations.  Seeing at least three of the four readings come up the same on my screen is like a game of luck!  Measuring in kpa can be more disconcerting than psi.  I can have a tire at 242kpa another at 248 and either number in-between. All are still evenly inflated at 35 psi.

Could not agree more, 1SLOW1500. I’ve been doing it since it came out. Only time my tpms sends a code is when a sensor breaks or when a tire is str8 up flat. It’s better for the rims, better for the tires, is more dense than plain air so if there’s a slow leaks it’s even slower with nitrogen and therefore also less susceptible to heat/cold volume variation. Tire warehouse does it around here and it’s just included with their road hazard stuff so I always get it.

I will add that the TPMS needs a few miles to 'wake up' after each key cycle. Refresh rate. But yea, what he said.

My personal experience is that it didn't make a difference in the two vehicles I had nitrogen in.  So if you have to pay for it I say don't bother.  The air we breath contains 78.9% nitrogen.

As for the TPM relearn.  It is easy and this tool is what you need.  Directions on Youtube in your owners manual.

I had Michelin defender tires put on 13 months ago at Costco. They put nitrogen and even put them at 45PSI for me cause i haul trailer. In over a year I have not had to and any pressure. First time in my life getting nitrogen and pressures are stable.

I tried to tell my teachers back in high school that 78.9% was the same as 100%... turns out it’s not. They didn’t even think it was an 80%[emoji12][emoji12]

Low tire pressure can void powertrain warranty? I have a hard time believing that. And ive received plenty of low tire warnings from onstar

Onstar sent it to me in a email. Said it can void powertrain warranty. If gm really uses that I don't know but it is another thing possibly against you in a claim. So for $20 I never in 2 years had to deal with it.

That is just a little outside.

Think about it. Oxygen is denser than nitrogen (check on a Periodic Table) and if "plain air" contains both, then logic would dictate that plain air would be denser than just plain nitrogen since it contains both. Sound about right?

Just let the oxygen leak out and refill. After a few times you will be close to 100% nitrogen. Free.

Correct I misspoke on that. But it’s not that simple. Pure nitrogen in a tire is less likely to migrate through the tires rubber than oxygen. So that’s good. It’s also less susceptible to pressure change due to temp swings. So that’s also good but it’s mostly due to the lack of water vapor in pure nitrogen, not it’s comparison to oxygen. That’s one of the things that doesn’t really get pointed at much. “Air” contains nitrogen mostly, then oxygen and the rest of the small concentrations gasses and water vapor. The water inside a tire as a vapor or a liquid is a bad thing. And that causes more of a pressure change in temp swings than dry air does. And it helps the corrosion of rims along as well. And that’s also bad.

With a nitrogen fill it reduces that.

It’s just better. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
