Dealer had the truck all day yesterday. Called me before they closed and kinda gave me an update.

They attempted to start the truck to move it to the service area. Wouldn't start. Tried jumping it and couldn't get it to start.

Eventually got it running, and moved it.

They tried to start it again to move it into the service bay and it was dead again. Eventually got it jump started.

He told me my truck is "weird". Not very reassuring to hear, but I'm obviously aware there is an issue somewhere, duh.

Checked the battery, all connections, computers and everything is 100% and showing fine. Didn't give me exact error codes when I asked him, but did mention that the truck was saying low voltage somewhere.

Told me it's running fine now and I could pick it up. I read him the BCSM bulletin since I park on an incline and mentioned that could have POSSIBLY been my cause and he said it very well could have caused the battery to die. I told him nothing was left on, but he kept asking if I maybe left a light on or something. I mentioned that the truck has a battery saver function built in and the lights will auto shutoff for that very reason. He said "oh yea you're right".

He asked if I wanted to pick it up and I told him unless he could assure me it wasn't going to fail on me and that everything is fixed that I wasn't comfortable taking it home without some further diagnosing. He offered to put it on a Parasitic machine?? to see if any of the computers are draining the battery overnight and he'll call me today.

Fun stuff.

Man, so sorry you have to go through this. I feel your pain, literally. The only thing that infuriates me more than a $60k + truck that does not start is a nonchalant dealer. This is going to turn into a Class Action against GM if the issue is not resolved soon. Thanks for the update, and please keep us posted. My confidence is still shaken to the core with this truck.

The service manager of the dealership I bought it from told me "You need to drive it more".  I have started a case with Chevrolet Customer Service. I have left them 5 messages without a return call (after they requested by email that I call them). My initial plans were to buy another brand of truck in January and now I am so sorry I didn't.

Thanks. Appreciate your help with all of this. I have 2 jump starters that I'm going to bring with me on our trip next week, and I'm going to ask for a list of the codes that it threw to dig into those more so that I can be somewhat prepared in case it acts up again.

I have no confidence in this truck either, and I wrote a page long response to a survey from GMC about my issues and disappointment in them. Doubt it's going to do anything, but figured I better document everything in case I have to Lemon Law this eventually.

Also noticed the truck kept engaging the parking brake when the tow truck was trying to pull it up on the flatbed. Him and I messed around with it for 15 minutes to get it to disengage since it would randomly reengage for whatever reason. This damn thing is possessed.

That's such a BS response. I didn't drive the truck for 6 or 7 days last month and it was just fine. Went 3 days this past week and it was dead. Clearly not from not driving it enough. These dealers are just dense.

I'm going to pick up my truck tonight hopefully and cross my fingers I don't have to take it back in. If/when it dies again I'm calling corporate and starting a case as well. Really love this thing but I'm not going to keep a truck that may or may not start.

I think GM's new slogan should be "It might start, or not".

They should bring back the slogan, "Like a Rock."

Someone may have already posted this but (1) take videos of everything. This proved to the dealer that I actually had a problem because they could not replicate it and it ran perfectly when I took it in; (2) start the process of reaching out to GM -- I started with GM Customer Care ([email protected]) and they have now escalated the problem to a Customer Experience Manager, as I went full "Karen" on them and demanded that they provide a response not only for me, but the countless folks who are dealing with this issue (also send them links to these threads). The lack of acknowledgement is what infuriates me most.

Great ideas. I took videos based on your previous advice but thankfully I guess it died on them a couple times so they know I wasn’t exaggerating.

I’m a big fan of documenting everything so I will reach out to customer care the next time the truck dies. I have a feeling I’m going to get to know the service department very well.
I’m hoping for a response from my survey but not gonna hold my breath.
As much as I’m afraid to drive it I told my wife to drive the truck as much as possible so that we can see if the issue pops up again sooner rather than later and have a better chance of Lemon Law’ing it if needed.

Dealer called me back after I asked for an update. Hooked up to machine overnight and this morning and everything shows 100%. He said the BSCM recall/bulletin was already done a few months ago but they redid it at my request.

Gonna pick it up this afternoon and try to drive it a ton this week to see if it happens again before our roadtrip next week. Here's hoping I don't have to do this again.

I have the same issue, started yesterday on my 2020 Denali 1500 with the 6.2. I purchased the truck new the end of April and it currently has 4900 miles on it. Crank and crank with no start. I did eventually get it to stay running on the 5th or 6th go by pressing the pedal once it started to sound like there was some ignition taking place. CEL came on and I was sent an email from Onstar to get the truck serviced. I drove it another 120 miles with multiple starts and stops with no issues. I made the appointment and brought it in this morning and when the dealer tech was going to drive the truck in to the shop it wouldn't start for him so I had instant validation of the complaint.

This is what was relayed to me by the service advisor after 2.5 hours:

*This is a known emerging issue they're working on with these vehicles and other GM models though this is the first one my dealer has seen.

*The tech had to do extensive electrical testing to send data back to GM engineers.

*GM doesn't know exactly what the problem is but the current fix is to replace the ECM and fuel pump assembly. Suspected issue is somewhere in the circuit between the ECM and fuel sender electronics.

*The good news is the the ECM is on the shelf. The bad news is the fuel pump is backordered so my brand new $70k truck can't be relied on to start when I need it to. I left it at the shop so it will sit in their way until they get it repaired which could be 5 weeks!

I'm a former automotive engineer and manager for OEMs and tier 1 suppliers. I worked in electrical design, product improvement, quality and manufacturing. I currently own 4 auto repair shops as my 2nd career when I got tired of the stress and corporate politics. I'm telling you this because I have a pretty good insider view on how things work when problems happen. I will tell you with 100% certainty that people at GM, Ford, and Chrysler get VERY worked up when there is a problem with the trucks because they are the cash cow that drives sales for the entire brand. I'm sure this is getting a ton of attention to get a fix in place ASAP. I hope it happens soon because I'm pretty disappointed. I love my new truck and want to drive it... FWIW I traded in a 2018 Sierra 1500 SLT and had no issues in 60k miles. My 2013 Ram was basically problem free for 150k miles (only broken exhaust manifold bolts and dead stereo/touchscreen after 120k).

Got my truck back today, almost 4 weeks after bringing it in. They replaced the ECM and fuel sender. So far, so good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!.Finally time to install the performance intake and exhaust!

Good news. Let us know how it goes. I haven't had a single issue since the dealer tightened the bolts on my fuse box. It's been the champ truck I had hoped for... Gaining confidence back a day at a time.

How'd your road trip go? Hopefully no issues?

Perfect, no issues!

After they flashed the newest firmware it’s been rock solid. Tried setting off the sensor and draining the battery overnight when I park on an incline but truck has been great since.
Slowly falling back in love but still don’t feel 100% confident.

Interesting reading everyone’s problems. I bought my 2020 Trailboss in February 2020

it has 5,500 miles on it and went in the garage to grab something from the truck and noticed the fob didn’t unlock it, manually unlocked it and there is no power whatsoever. Can’t even start it. I did notice the day prior from using it that the radio screen went black and had no radio or anything then this happened. Electrical ? I’ll be hitting up Chevy dealership in the am! Smh

I have a 20 Silverado Rst with 1200 miles. This morning it would turn over and not start. After about 5 times I gave up on it. I came out 10 minutes later and it started right up.
