Craig22 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Hi everyone, I have 2015 gmc with the 6.2L engine with 80k miles. I’ve got the truck brand new. I’ve had the vibration issues at about 40k miles. It took them 3 weeks to take care of that. They did the torque converter, new tranny and engine mounts. Made it until about 65k until I need a new condenser, front struts (noticed it was leaking when the brake pads where being replaced) and radiator. Now I’m at a little over 80k and truck is in the shop again getting the lifters replaced. Anyone else out there having THIS many issues? I’m probably still leaving out a repair or 2. Very disconcerting about GM quality. Just terrible.
diyer2 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Did you look around this site? Your not alone. Does it suck, Yea. Good Luck.

As diyer2 suggested, you will have no trouble finding other members with similar types and frequency of issues on this (and every other brand's) forum. I own A '15 GMC 1500 and it continues to be a reliable, worry free, joy to drive. You will also have no problem finding members on this forum like me who are very happy with their GM trucks! I don't know why you are having so many issues with you particular truck but it is not a brand issue.

Looking around here it seems that quite a few GM trucks that are relatively new sure are having a lot more problems compared to something like a Tundra. Doesn’t even appear to be close. I don’t know how you can say this isn’t a brand issue with the frequency of these problems. These are new trucks. Lesson learned though.

Bob2C Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Luck of the draw. Anything mass produced will have problems with a certain percentage. It doesn’t matter what brand. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I also like Toyotas and owned (still do) cars by this brand for over 20 years. It is obvious that you are unhappy with your truck and it is easy to find people to commiserate with on the internet. I had an unacceptable experience with a Dodge decades ago and I know this continues to taint my objectivity when looking at RAMS! I understand your disappointment. My experiences with GM have been positive and therefore gravitate to those comments that confirm my opinion! My impressions, based on what I read, is that my brand choice is the best!

The reason you don't see many problems with Tundras is there is not that many Tundras out there compared to how many GM trucks. How many Tundras do they sell in a year? 118,000 in 2018. Silverado and Sierra 804,000 in 2018. You are seeing less than 1 % of the actual amount of GM truck owners on here also. Also everyone comes on here to complain about the problem they are having. It's rare to see someone write up something good. So you have a few problems don't mean the other 99% of the GM trucks are having the same problems. They all have problems. Some have more than others though. If you don't like the truck get rid of it then and get a Tundra.

It’s not going to favor GM I’ll tell you that. Not gonna argue statistics on a forum. That’s easy for you to say. I just shelled out 50k for this truck 4 years ago.... bro
huntr1117 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 You can go on any Toyota, Dodge, Ford, and GM forum and find issues with all the manufacturers. Everyone is saying they'll go to the other. I honestly think it's just luck of the draw. My 17 has had a few issues here and there, but overall I'm very happy with my truck. Sorry to hear your truck has had so many issues. I hope your next one is better.Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

It's never needed any repairs and still drives like a dream. It's only being replaced because I bought a travel trailer and I wanted the 6.2L, max trailering package and advanced trailering system, as well as a few of the new nanny features, like blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic alert.
PPK Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Not so sure about toyota.. my last one (2011) had a bad cam phasor at 62k miles. And my F150 blew oil out of the pan gasket and popped its radiator wide open. Anything you use, will wear out. I did the AFM defeat, so i may not have your cam/lifter risks.. but you have some miles on that truck, and you will have to do some maintenance.
Pearl2017 Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 To People that scoff at disabling AFM, Using heavier oils or replacing thermostat with lower temp. This is exactly why we do these things... I'll probably get scoffed at for saying so All machines break down, It is the nature of nature and no manufacturer is immune from it . Especially as the machines complexity has gone through the roof.
