Check your glove box, in the RPO codes, do you have IOS or IOU?

IO6 would be another one to look for.

You do not have NAV installed, IO5 is a "fancy" radio with the apps, IO6 comes with the functioning NAV system from the factory.

That is why you are told you have to subscribe to ON Star for it to work.

 

Looks like you have some other nice options, just not that one.

thank you so much, is that why I cannot plug my phone in and it work off my phone as well? Is there anyway to get NAV on this system

NAV is nice if you don't know where you are going. I got it only because the map display is more interesting that just the icons.

I have IO5 and Android Auto and Car Play both work fine on mine. I checked and mine was built 12/15. I just had to let the dealer install a software update and then I was able to get Android Auto working.

 

Have the dealer do the update for you and then use Android Auto which will be able to use Google Maps or Waze for Navigation. It is much better than factory Nav because it is always up to date on streets plus it can also access live traffic and other features. And just to add, Google has bought Waze and has started integrating some of the Waze features into Google Maps. I still like Waze better...

I would go with the update, as suggested above, Android Auto and Car Play were not available for years, just added recently (last 3 years).
