You guys are too cool! Thank you so much for the kind words! I don’t want to take away from this months theme or the great looking trucks but the only reason I would be a shoe in for the mall crawler is because most people on here think it’s ridiculous to make a truck look like mine haha. All good though I still got a lot of love for a ton of guys on here that have all types of builds. I know there has to be a bunch more guys out here with work trucks because I’ve seen the pictures before! We need to get some more of those jobsite photos or those rigs pulling campers or trailers. Work trucks are a life line in themselves! Let’s see more!

If you're feeding your family or protecting your farmland I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed.

Don't any of you guys use your trucks for work. C'mon man.

Let's see those Work trucks

I would have expected more entries, there are quite a few 1500 work trucks on here, some snow plow guys, roofers, construction. Maybe they are all out working them. When I suggested the category I was thinking K2 trucks, certainly there would be more in the 2500+ category. My bad guys, hopefully we get some more entries.

I'm surprised there aren't more entries too. I've used both 2500's and 1500s for work trucks. Mostly 1500' s though .
I look around the jobsites ( new home construction, apts, small retail developments, smaller commercial jobs) today and see more and more 1/2 tons than ever it seems. Unless you are in utilities, excavation or pulling a big trailer hanging siding, most guys are running 1/2 tons. A lot more company trucks too. Also a lot less vans . 25 years ago a lot of guys were driving some real shitboxes for work trucks. There was a lot more freelancers then too. Kind of like the wild west if you will. Yeehaw. Now you have to wear a yellow vest and a hardhat damned near every jobsite you go to. Sad.

Honestly, I was really looking forward to this thread because I see a ton of these trucks driving up and down the highways that are clearly work trucks...loaded to the gills with equipment, ladder racks, welders, compressors, trailers. Wold have loved to have heard some stories from those guys. I have heard "some" and honestly they weren't all that great (in terms of repairs/reliability)...a few trannies gone bad, some torque converters. But there's so many on the road - would have liked to have heard if those were isolated incidences.

I use mine for "work"...this thing has to commute me back and forth to work everyday....80 miles round trip....no excuses, it has to do that every single day. So far it's done that pretty well. Through the snow, rain, heat, cold. Up and down that highway.

I use my trucks for work too. Chevy's. Always been Chevy's.

I just don't work as much as I used to but when I had to be there every day my trucks never called in sick.

From the looks of this thread a lot of guys must drive their K2's to their desk job.[emoji408][emoji409][emoji410][emoji2780][emoji2778][emoji340][emoji2776]

I'd rather work in the field.

Only one I can find for the Silver Bullet
I was trimming out a new townhome. Cutting in the garage.

I did a little remodel job last summer had to use the Black Beauty. Cutting in the garage again.

I hate the muddy ass jobsites
I like the clean ones.2f8749cf1dbeab2930ebfc84847541a3.jpg68b53340ce3862aa80669fa1cbd8c29d.jpg

I don't have any pictures with my truck from work. My Silverado is mainly used for doing estimates. The only thing that goes in the back are a couple Soft Cut concrete saws and a power washer. I have a Medium duty that does all the heavy lifting so that doesn't count here. I'll just post a picture of it so you can see what a concrete contractor needs for a work truck.

Nice pinstripe job. Classy.

You know if you use your Silverado for estimates that's part of the job. I've always done free estimates. And usually get the jobs.

I know if I saw you pull up in your CST Chevy to give me an estimate. I would say to myself, this dude ain't F'ing around. I'm sure his work quality matches up with his his truck quality.

Then when you pull up to do the job in your well equipped, clean as a whistle F650 with pinstripes. Well I don't even need to watch I'm going to Dennys for breakfast.

Bottom line if your Silverado makes you a buck its eligible .

Throw a couple of your form boards in the back sticking out and snap a picture. See it's a work truck [emoji23]

I added a few more things to this months prize pack. Check my first post this month

    • It really is comical when people don’t agree or see the reason some people prefer the older vehicles. They become condescending. All the while they may be busting their knuckles on old vehicles. I have found memories of swapping out engines in my old GM cars in a weekend without much hassle. Unlike today. One wrong move a computer will shut you down. Even on something as easy as a brake job. There’s a pretty comical YouTuber called the car wizard. A garage owner who puts it all in perspective. Another Vicegrip garage that’s shows just how tough the old stuff is.
    • I was around and remember that era very well, so I'm calling b/s on that statement. If they were that bad no police department or taxi company would've bought a single one ... but they were used in both services (and fire) for DECADES. They were bulletproof and proven. Even the early 21st century ones weren't too bad! The early models were legendary.   Mine is proof, but people like atlas are blinded by agenda and refuse to believe facts right before their very eyes.   Even decades after they were built, a new generation started driving them, posting all their builds and shenanigans on Grandmarq.net and Crownvic.net. The failures would show up then, since they all were deep past 100k-150k miles by that point, and younger drivers tend to be a little aggressive, especially with vehicles than can lay a one-tire fire for as long as you hold your foot in it. They've more than proven themselves over the decades.   The only thing that'll really take them out is road salt. The bodies and sheet metal were garbage. A victim of the cheapout FoMoCo and GM have been partaking in before then, and since.   Today it's the stuff that counts - the undercarriage that rots away first!    GMs Caprice was no slouch either. Reliable as a stone ax - the opposite of what they build now.
    • Let me know how your vehicles do in 10 years. You don't know ******, kid. 😂    There's a reason that Panther platform was used as police, fire, and taxi service for DECADES ... long before you were born, apparently.
    • If your connector also has a big lever to get the connector on and off, you don't want to force the lever either way, as it becomes a bigger problem if you bust the lever or the mechanism it works.
    • It's just useful to disconnect the battery to prevent odd shorting out when unplugging/plugging stuff together.  I also  touch the two cable ends together (after disonnecting) to drain the small amount of stored battery energy in various modules.   I believe the main system where you need to be more concerned with, so you need to do the above and then wait some time, iss when you are working on the air bag system, to prevent inadvertent firing of the air bags.   The in-cab switches are just that, plain switches, it's generally not a problem to swap them in/out.  For my '12, I'll get an error message on the dash if I power up the truck w them unplugged, but that's it (power up= turn the ignition on).   The ITBC located above the spare tire is a computer that manages the trailer brake system.  That is probably more important to have the battery disconnected.  It does have to be programmed to the truck, either before or after it's installed, for it to work.  For my '12, I had a very hard time reinstalling the main connector to it (IDK if yours is the same or not), it turned out the silicon seal was jamming up, preventing it from going on all the way.  I finally got it fully installed by lubing the seal with a bit of dielectric grease, then it slid on and latched in place easily.
