BackWoodsLivn Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 2019 RST 5.3, 2.5 months in and so far I’m very pleased. However, my anxiety is persistent after reading about so many other’s having all these issues. What I find ironic is that the cost of autos are so high because of technology yet so many of the issues are technology related. 2
Donnie Summers Posted March 5, 2020 Posted March 5, 2020 I have no regrets even though the first 30 days spent in shop for a wire harness feeding the front camera had an issue of a pin crimped so tight it would not seat properly but my mechanic stuck with the issue scratching his head after removing a harness out of a new one on the lot because he was having trouble getting one and it did not work so he put my harness in the other truck and it worked fine so he kept digging and found that pin, He too replace front camera a couple times before he started a deep dive into the harness so jus wundering if that is the problem people are having with their trucks, Read my post on Very weird electrical issue on 2019 Sierra SLT , Kudos to my mechanic for sticking with this head scratching problem a resolving it, I had the final brake recall done tonight and no issues with the lane assist or the lane departure systems like others have had either (knock on wood) But really I love everything about this truck and while at the dealer today I looked at the 2020's and with same options they are bout $2000 higher...

Coming from a 160,000 mile trouble free 09 Tacoma I bought new in 08 I think I was spoiled.

Dealer replaced both. 2) vibration with load on engine from dash area. Dealer found a trans harness rubbing on floorboard. 3) infotainment radio froze up 3 times since new. Embarrassing. Shut off engine and wait few minutes to fix. 4) Apple CarPlay works when it wants. 5) if I don’t use the stupid electronic tailgate for, let’s say a few days, it takes me a few hits of the button for it to actually release. I’ve now made it a habit to just open it once a day. 6) went to put running boards on, went under truck and trans fluid everywhere!! turns out a transfer case seal failed. if I didn’t already add running boards, tonno, rear wheel well liners, and rubber liners inside, I would just take the beating on trade and never step foot in a Chevy dealership again. Get rid of it. I have a 2017 All Terain. Nothing but problems. Brake pump oil cooler lines transmission shifts like a farm Tractor. rusting running boards. Dash that makes a sound like a stone hits windsheild on hyway. power seat sloppiness.shark fin leaked rear top stop light leaked. rattling adaptive valve on exhaust. List WILL go on. Have a friend that`s a gm Tech. All the things that fail all fail on these platforms. hes accually gave me a list of things that go. problem is they replace under warrenty same for same so few years down the line fail again usually off of warranty. Gm dropped the ball on these trucks. Alot of die hard fans on gm on these boards are living in denial. they will all fail with same issues on all chevy`s and gmc`s. there 60,000 grand rattle boxes.

I`am thinking people are doing there research on these trucks. realisticly I donrt think there is any brands that really have any quality. Always been a North American truck guy. But times have changed. I may just lease from now on and get rid of them after lease. But Gm will be the last vehicle I would ever buy. I understand things break , but not the first week. I have had nothing but problems with this junk. Its time there were class actions here in Canada also for there products. Seems the states build them there and ship them here without any accountability on there products. We as Canadians just pay and pay. At least the States have some balls to go after them for there shoddy builds.

I came from a Tundra with 225k miles and only had to replace a radiator during that time. I have begun to feel very confident that my Silverado will never see that many trouble free miles. Probably would be best if I stayed off the trouble shooting part of the forum...but I just can’t! 2
Cpl_Punishment Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I was really strongly considering a Sierra. Heck, I probably would have bought one if we had a decent lemon law in Canada. I know the payload, towing and fuel economy would be better than my Tundra. However, there's a lot to be said for reliability in my book. Also, my SR5 was about $10-20k CAD less than an Elevation would have been and it has all the interior features I want or need. My brother recently bought a 2019 SLT so I hope he doesn't encounter any issues. 1
Donnie Summers Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Keep in mind there is jus a handful of unhappy Chevy/GMC people here compared to millions of trucks sold so if yur basing buy'n a Chevy or GMC cuz unhappy people on a discussion group you will never buy a truck cuz head over to the Ford, Dodge and Toyota groups and see those unhappy folks alsp…. 1
bamorris2 Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I regret buying my Sierra because every online community/forum for our trucks is filled with complaints. LOL 1 2
1997SierraSLT Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 Quite the opposite when heading over to a Toyota forum. Owners spend their hard earned quality time actually enjoying their bulletproof reliable vehicles and posting pics of great outdoor adventures. 1

I only sold it because I was "kicking tires" on new trucks...and the dealership offered me too much to say no. Coincidentally, that 2014 was built in Mexico. My 2000 silverado which I still own and my 17y/o drives was built in Canada. That truck has been nothing but reliable. It's why I didn't sell it.

Lol “a hand full” you can scout every forum and even Edmonds reviews along with other sites regarding these trucks. Same issues across the board. I suggest you remember these posts next time your truck fails bet you it will be one of the same issues everybody else is having. 1
KevinO Posted March 6, 2020 Posted March 6, 2020 I sure do... 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Crew. after the second week, back of inside was soaked, thought the window was left open in the rain, nope the back window leaked like no tomorrow. Dealer had it several days. dried it our bur the top is stained, I bitched but they wouldnt replace it. They resealed the window, left globs of hardened glue on outer glass, edge of bed for me to scrap and clean up. The the air cleaner sensor was going crazy, checked and time or two reset twice in 1500mi. speedo and tech go nutz, cable harness came loose under hood causing comms issue to ecu. Now and final: I was in a minor accident, no fault to me or GM. Some one blew a stop and hit me dead on the Rt rear wheel. My axle and diff said to be f'd up. GM cancelled the order twice! said they cant get the complete rear made and send to me. WTF. So I am now getting the only one found in the nation.... a used rear from a repair shop because GM cant get make one. I bought or leased 12 trucks / car's since 2000 and wont do it again. I'm going DODGE after this one is repaired. I've been down since 12-20-2019 when hit. Loaners loaners...... If GM wont take care if it's buyers F'em. 1
