I was building trucks on chevys site and a rst crew cab starts at 47,790 and Liz 50,550.I know you get leather with Ltz and chrome bumpers but what are the other differences?Kind of hard to tell the way the site is just seems hard to tell what you are getting.I started adding options on the rst and I was getting above the price of the ltz.

i think standard engine is 5.3 on the ltz while it's the 2.7 on the rst, the cell phone charging console, along with all chrome everywhere. that's all I know.

the all chome everything is enough for me want the RST with z71.

I'm of the same opinion ofmsaul37, I went from a 2017 LTZ to an rst. Lost a moon roof and cooled seats but the biggest things I use are still there. Heated steering wheel, seats, remote start, backup cam etc.

Gained blind spot detection and push button start. Imo the RSTs have enough features that they pushed me out of an LTZ. I also love the 2.7 and the body colored bumpers. Way too much chrome for my tastes in the LTZ.

A no option, base LTZ is really darn close to fairly loaded RST in equipment. Certain little things like power fold mirrors are standard on LTZ and not even available on RST.

But the main difference is where the ceiling is, and also how most trucks on the lot are actually equipped. Most LTZs you’ll see have the premium package, very rare to see one that has no options. Most RSTs seem to be equipped around the middle...not stripped, but not loaded to the point of stickering above an LTZ either. You can also go crazy and load an LTZ higher than a High Country or Denali if you want. Kinda where I ended up because I wanted all the cameras, HUD, etc.

It basically boils down to chrome bumpers, full console and leather seats on the LTZ (or SLT) vs color matched plastic bumpers, center console that doesn't go all the way and cloth seats on the RST (Elevation).

I think things that are important and bring value on these trucks regardless of trim level are:

Bose Audio

Full Console

Full Camera Package

Heated/Cooled Seats/Steering Wheel

Retractable Running Boards (Denali/High Country only)

Black or White Paint (White Tri-Coat especially)

4wd

20 or 22" wheels

Sprayed bed liner

Leather Seats

HUD

Large digital gauge cluster

Built-in Navigation

8" Media Screen

Remote Start

Power/Multi-pro tailgate

Factory all weather mats

Dual Exhaust

Performance Exhaust

5.3 vs 6.3L engine

Moonroof

Double Cab

Power Mirrors

etc.

the more of those options you can get in your truck, the more your truck is going to be worth (resale value). Unfortunately they bundle a lot of this stuff with a bunch of crap you don't need as well.

FWIW my father has a 2018 RST and I have a 2019 SLT (same as LTZ) and and it is a pretty stark contrast as to how much nicer my SLT is than his RST. I wouldn't want a truck without a full console, the color matching looks plastic and cheap to me and no leather seats  (although you can get them done professionally aftermarket for about 1k) for 50k but again, to each his own. It boils down to what is important to you at the end of the day as you are the one driving it. I also would never own one of these trucks that wasn't black or the tri-coat white (regular white looks ultra cheap IMO) but there are people who would laugh at caring about the color of a truck.

IMO these trucks are not all created equal and there is pretty large gap in the "niceness" of these trucks, even ones that are similar in price. Got to pick those options carefully or find one that checks all the boxes. Lots of little things I would be pissed if I didn't have and lots of things that I could care less that I don't have (HUD, large Gauge Cluster, etc).

In the end - if you carefully select your options the RST can be just as plush as the LTZ. It boils downs to chrome vs color match. I ordered my RST with buckets, full console, 6.5 bed, Bose, etc. Just take your time and order what you want. You can print your specs and go visit dealers or even call them and tell them they have 30 minutes to give you there best price. Good luck!

I was between an RST and an LTZ when I was looking to buy.  I did not order a custom truck, these were two that were already on the lot.  The RST that I ultimately chose has leather bucket seats w/ full console, 8" Touchscreen w/ Bose, front and rear parking sensors, blind spot alert, push button start, remote start, heated steering wheel, heated seats (but not cooled), remote/power lock/release tailgate (not power close), plus it came w/ the 6.2 and 10 speed.

The features that were on the LTZ but not the RST... power close tailgate, cameras in the side mirrors, lane departure assist, cooled seats, wireless cell phone charging, spray in bed liner.  It also had the 6.2

The reason I ultimately went with the RST is it checked every box that I considered a "must have" in order to make it worth starting a new car payment. It was also just over $3k cheaper than the LTZ.  Sure, the few added features of the LTZ would be nice at times, but I don't find myself disappointed in the truck that I have.  I love my truck, and I personally prefer the color matched bumpers/grill.  To me, the LTZ's are hit or miss on looks with the chrome depending on the color of the truck and the wheel/tire package, etc.  OnTheReel's black LTZ is slick... some of the others look more like a custom or Base LT model, IMO.  Good luck with whichever route you choose.

LTZ gets power folding mirrors and up/down tailgate standard, also you can get the high dollar items like surround view cameras and heads up display.  None of these are options on a RST.

Other that that you can get a fully loaded RST that gets you close to a LTZ, as mentioned above, the difference is appearance and how loaded you want your truck.

I personally bought a LTZ with 3 options (LTZ Plus, Z71, and 3.0 Diesel), specifically because I need power folding mirrors to fit in my garage.  I didn't need all the fancy cameras, Bose, or wireless charging ( I use Apple Carplay everyday), so thankfully I found a truck exactly the way I wanted and saved my self money.  I really wanted a RST for the painted look, but since no one has figured out how to add power folding mirrors yet, I didn't want to take that chance.

I stand corrected.  Forgot to list the power folding mirrors. ?I do wish I had those at times.  Fortunately I don't need them on a daily basis.

Just to be clear, my previous post was only comparing to the LTZ I was looking at on the lot.  You CAN certainly get a lot more features in a fully loaded LTZ if you're willing to spend the dough.

Ya I forgot about the cooled seats being a LTZ thing also.  I ended up having my bumpers wrapped in white, changed the mirror caps to white, and swapped my grille out for a Trail Boss black one.  Can you tell I really wanted a RST haha

Customization is part of the fun and what sets it apart from the other trucks on the road.  Sneaking some of those purchases past the wife is sometimes a different story. ??

RST won't have power folding mirrors, memory seats and mirrors, power passenger seat, lock sensors on the rear handles (2019 RSTs do but not 2020), auto-dimming rear view mirror, or power closing tailgate. Those are things that come standard on an LTZ.

Then there are options you can get on an LTZ that you can't get on an RST - Like, ventilated seats, power retractable running boards, heads up display, surround vision camera, camera rear view mirror, digital gauge cluster, adaptive cruise control, forward collision alert, auto emergency braking and a few other things.

I originally wanted a Z71 RST when I was buying, I think it's probably the best looking T1 truck, but the lack of features pushed me into the SLT Sierra I ultimately ended up with.

One thing that did piss me off when I first purchased this truck is that is has a damn manual dim rearview mirror.  How  GM cannot put an auto dim rearview mirror in a $56k truck just baffles me.  All the windows were tinted from the factory, so when I test drove it at night, it never bothered me and haven't thought about it again since.  Just another area where they cut costs to get all these new editions to come in below LTZ/High Country price point. ?

I ordered mine in February and went back and forth on the options between a RST and a LTZ. My last 2 trucks were midnight edition so I was ready for a change and the chrome didn't bother me ( something different). I could not load up a RST and get what came on the LTZ or I should say not for less than another $8000. Equip the same RST was $57292 and the LTZ was $52850 because so many options I had to add to the RST came standard on the LTZ.

So that's the way I went LTZ. I ordered the cheapest wheels and tires I could get knowing I would change them.
