Door handles are chrome and the front doors have the push buttons but the rear doors do not (High Country trim). Is this based on a certain sub-package or could this have been a mistake at the factory?  If this was a mistake, how would I go about getting it corrected.....go the dealer route?

I have a 2020 GMC sierra SLT and have the chrome handles with lock and unlock buttons on all 4 doors.

No not a mistake. Apparently GM decided to do away with them. My 20 SLT has them but, it was made in August of 19 so I'm betting they were left over from 19 production. People have been asking the same question as you lately so it looks like only the front handles have the button now.

Yep! I was at my local GMC/Buick dealer getting oil this afternoon and looked at all their SLTs in stock. Just like yours. Chevy dealer next door didn't have any LTZ or HC in stock to compare to.....just seems odd to me?

GM doubles down on stupid so often now that eventually it's going affect sales.  My 2019 LTZ has buttons on all four doors and the rear buttons get used all the time.  That new F-150 with the 12 inch infotainment screen in the center stack is looking better and better.  If only it had something like the 6.2L.

Little things like that save them money to put it on something else in the truck or help keep price down. I also like the handle buttons on the rear doors and use them often, but to say something like that not being there would keep me from buying the truck is not true. Just like them doing away with the adjustable pedals with new body style. I liked it, but I really do not miss it at all. As far has the door handle button, it really is not that hard to press the button on the key fob to unlock the doors.

I could care less about all the gadgets myself. I can't stand the big infotainment screens, that just keep getting bigger and bigger. I buy a vehicle to get me to and from a place. I know the newer generation lives for this stuff, but it is just useless junk to me. This is one reason that I love the GM trucks interior over the RAM or Ford. The less clutter in and around my dash, the better. If I wanted an Ipad in my truck I would bring it with me. I would rather have the money spent on things that are useful, like the rear door buttons spoken about here, or even more money spent on engine/transmission combos. Those things are a lot more useful than a bunch of tech gadgets that just take your attention off the road. We really need more stuff for people to pay attention to along with their phones while they are driving.

I'm sure GM will have a bigger screen soon in their trucks, but if there is a way for me to not have it, I will not. But, I do like the rear door handle button. Sorry for the rant!

GMCs still have them for 2020, the deletion of the rear door buttons was only on the Silverado.

ditto. My center console screen serves only 2 purposes for me: To see what terrestrial radio station is on, and to see the backup camera. That camera is the only useful technology my current truck has that my 1998 did not. I've never used push button unlock door handles, don't need them.

Every other bit of fancy tech is obsolete after a couple years and I want a truck to last a decade. My phone gets replaced every 2 years, I'm not relying on GM to put a tablet in my truck.

I use the back door buttons more than the front since I'm always putting my backpack or groceries in the back.

Well, I'm finding I am constantly doing the same thing....but I don't have these buttons!! I keep more "stuff" in the back and it is so much easier to open the rear door VS putting it in the passenger seat....partly due to some shoulder/joint issues.  I've become pretty reliant on the proximity feature now....it's just a nice feature that I've come to like/appreciate. Just hate having to reach for the front door........guess I could go back to the remote....just get too used to it now.

The other thing that drives me nuts (which is why I'd like the rear door buttons....kind of a cause and affect issue here)....... I can't extend the time lapse until the doors lock on their own. If I want to get something out of the passenger side, like groceries, etc. I have to kind of hurry around the truck to the passenger side before the doors lock again. It is petty but those locks and pwr steps are only going to cycle so many times and they'll wear out. Just a frustration that I'd love to lodge w/ GM.

GM needs to send out a 6 to 9 month owner evaluation for feedback.  Guess they read these forums for that??

No worries on the rant.....I think it is fair to say we all have them. Just like it is as to why we like our trucks the way we do and for how we use them.

At first, I wasn't keen on the smaller display on the dash of these new trucks, BUT, now that I've had it. It is just fine as it is. It does what I need it to do....like you said.

So, anyone happen to know if the wiring harness is present in the door for this option?

I've not taken the door apart yet but thought I'd ask to see if anyone knew.

I have seen this complaint a few times and don't understand it, and I have first hand experience as my Fiance's Rav4 does the same thing where only the front doors unlock the vehicle with the proximity key. All we have to do is reach out a few feet to grab the front door handle to unlock the entire vehicle, not a big deal. As vehicles do more things people get entitled and there could easily be other reasons for it like reducing accidental activation of the locks. For example it eliminates two doors that can be accidentally unlocked by leaning or rubbing against it. I know with the Rav4 if I have the key in my pocked while washing the car when cleaning the handles the doors can lock/unlock. My brothers Altima has the unlock only on the front doors and he just touches the front door then puts my nephew in the back, easy peasy.

I've been retired for years and I love the new technology, so it's not just for the younger generation.  I wish GM would install a 12 inch infotainment screen in their center stack, like Ford is.  I can't imagine ever owning a vehicle without one, and the bigger, the better.

    • Hi all - my current truck is a 2022.5 1500 High Country 3.0. I bought the truck used last year. After doing some digging, I noticed that my truck's software is stuck on the original build from 2022. I have no available software updates. I talked to my dealer about this and they recommended not trying to force an update since the 36,000 mile warranty is expired. This is a big bummer since there have been many major releases since that have fixed small issues and improved speed/usability.   For reference, the current software build number is: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W158E-W164.4.2-QIH22B-563.3 158 release-keys Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I just forget about it and move on, or try a different dealer?
    • Sure. Buy it for me 🤣
    • Using zip ties but 2-3 they snap due to sharp edges. Just using a shoestring. Last longer. 🤣
    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
