I've been very happy with all of my new F-150s,  Sierras, and now Silverado.... I will say the most fun truck to drive was my 2016 regular cab F-150 2.7 eco.. Really light truck, and lots of low end torque....

For many years I’ve been participating in automotive forums of just about every manufacturer. One common theme is that a large percentage of posts are by complainers rather than the majority who are happy with their vehicles.

I agree here on both accounts. I've owned Ford and GM and been perfectly content with both. Each gave me their own headaches long term, but that's to be expected at some point with any vehicle.

It's easier (for some reason) for people to go online and complain when things go wrong rather than offer praise for all the time something's fine.

I agree with you on that one...

I spent many years in the rental car industry in a large city. I was at the airport, which is often the headquarters for the rental car company regions. They do the majority of buying, etc through the airport office, and when needed sent cars to in town locations. I worked my way into management and when became a shift manager. That involved a whole lot of things that included managing the fleet and dealing with problems in a daily basis, including fleet utilization across the region. One thing I noticed was that Ford fleet pricing was always cheaper, so we always had more Fords. However, when it came to personal ownership, most employees who weren't allowed to take a car home nightly, arrived to work in GMs or imports like Nissan. We were able to utilize our company's fleet purchasing program to buy personal vehicles at the dealership. The fleet price was often lower than what the dealership was buying the car at. I had one dealer tell me when I bought my first new car ever, a GM, that GM will reimburse them the difference of my buying price and their purchase price. Since we had a majority of Fords in the fleet I got to see how crappy those vehicles are made. Imagine having 500 Ford Focus with fuel pumps that fail in the first 1500 miles. F150s weren't as common in the fleet as Focus, Fusion, and Taurus, but they'd still experience a lot of problems. Explorer (before the current unibody platform) and Expedition would usually have the same problems. Were GMs perfect? No, but they were a lot better. Far fewer problems. A key getting stuck in the ignition of the Cobalt was the biggest problem I can recall, but again we didn't have as many GMs. We did have GM SUVs, but no trucks. Still had a lot fewer problems, though. One part of the fleet that was exclusively GM was Suburban and 12 passenger vans. Those things never seemed to have problems. Biggest thing I hate about the GM leasing agreements for Suburban and full size vans the mileage caps, which is why when you rent one you'll likely have a mileage restriction of 100/day on your rental agreement. This was the closest to a Silverado we get in the fleet. Again, never really experienced a problem with them, but we never got the mileage out of them that we get out cars.

Interesting that GM trucks had an overall plus YTD average vs last year with the exception of the Silverado 1500

The Silverado/Sierra HD all had a better year then 2019 and so the the Sierra 1500

Whatever ram numbers are, they cooled down vs last year , No denying that .

Also every big SUV had a bad year vs last year .

Lastly GM has got to get those Colorado/Canyons re done already.

Bad dip in numbers

Lemme guess, TFL got their numbers directly from the Dominion Voting Machines guy.

Next thing, you'll say the Ram numbers were inflated by the 2020 Dakota sales.

At what point does Nissan stop making a full size truck?  25k units?  They are on life support.

No kidding - they are struggling with almost every category!

They just axed the 5.0 Oil burner and did a small refresh. You do get a good value for the price with the Titan. However sales as you mentioned are bad. I think if within next 18 months sales are still bad, this might be done.  They just axed their cargo van.

Where did you see they axed the 5.0?  It's still shows available on the Ford website.  I really hope they didn't...

Think he means the 5.0 diesel in the Titan XD. But the 5.0 Ford also burns oil. ?

Maybe I’m alone, but I think the Titan is by far the ugliest truck on the market.

I've been saying this recently.....at least here in Texas (DFW), I see wayyyy more new Chevy's than I do Ford's or Ram's. Just on my drive in and out of my neighborhood every day, I count 4-5 parked. In a parking garage of a friend's apartment, I see 6.

I think Ford's numbers have always been bloated because the dominate the commercial fleet market. And that would make sense as to the reduction this year, when business has been down dramatically. Ram and Ford also dominate the HD market.

I don't know if these numbers are out there...but I would wager that if you look at F-150 vs RAM 1500 vs Silverado 1500 vs Sierra 1500 and remove fleet sales (basically the trucks for normal consumers), you'd see that GMC and Chevrolet are winning by a large margin.

I dont make too much of fleet sales vs regular person sales.

A sale is a sale .   Who cares who and how it was sold too.

I'm sure if Gm and RAM could get some of that Ford Fleet business they would.

All I'm saying is if you're looking at which truck consumers actually want and buy, not commercial customers, you see a very different story.

Not at all surprised to see the dip from RAM. We all knew that their 2019 numbers were heavily impacted by the crazy discounts they were running. GM clearly knew this and made clear they were playing the long game with the T1 trucks, which has seemed to pay off.

I think there's a clear (backed up by this data) shift from Chevy to GMC with a lot of buyers. There is finally a very distinct stylistic difference between the two, plus the AT4 is a really popular truck around where I live.

I was surprised to see the HD numbers post such an increase. I just do not see many of those around so far, and I think the styling on them is ... yikes.

My prediction is Ford will stay relatively flat for 2021. Their new trucks are a nice improvement, but I saw one in person the other day finally... wow... I could barely tell it was a 2021 from the outside. SO boring for a big refresh to look just like the outgoing model.

The new Powerboost is going to win over a lot of Ford owners, so many will upgrade. I don't see a lot of people ditching a RAM or GM for the Ford now, though. That's just my heavily worthless $0.02.
