Don't wish anymore.  Just order a 21' with the option and trade or sell your 19'  Your wish comes true!   ?

LOL!!  Good point but if I did that I would lose my 0% interest rate. GM isn’t offering that now, and it’s REAL nice putting $750 towards your truck and all of it goes towards the principal.
Plus, if I was to trade I’d buy another Sierra. Had 3 before this Silverado, and to me they are more refined, ride better, and are quieter.

Maybe this is hearsay or urban legend... but I have heard that the GMC (same as this one) multi-flex tailgate has issues if you have a trailer ball in the hitch receiver.... and it gets doinked....ianyone else heard this?

It's not urban legend.

Depends on what type of ball and mount is plugged in, but on some the small gate can hit when opened.

Some mounts have enough offset that the ball is below the centre section even if when open -- of course offset should selected to match trailer requirement.

Otoh, I've pulled trailers that have a non-swivel jack that an traditional tailgate will hit.

Curt makes an add-on interlock that detects if ball mount installed and interrupts circuit that releases the centre section.

I've bashed enough shins/knees over the years that part of unhooking the trailer is removing the ball mount.

will it fit 2019/2020 beds?

Yeah now that it's available on Silverado's....would be interesting to see if people can start to figure out if it can be retrofit after the fact to non-equipped trucks. Even 2019 or 2020 models.

They should start showing up anytime noew.

Multi-flex was added to the 1500 silverado order guide mid-December 2020.

here's a fix to that problem...... https://tailgatefix.com/

That thing is genius. Why couldn't GM think of that? Never mind.

The Curt version seems much more elegant for similar price.   It's what I ordered for my 2500

I think they figured their customers were smart enough to not need it...

It's not myself I'm worried about.  It's the wife or a friend.

That's hilarious. Wait, what, you were joking right?

Just take the dang hitch off after towing your vehicle. My opinion is that a truck looks stupid driving around with a hitch on without towing anything. Might as well have your “fake nuts”hanging from them as well.
I remove my hitch the minute I unhook and park my boat. Keeps my shins from getting all banged up and also looks cleaner as well. And then you don’t have to spend any money on other gadgets or gizmos.
And btw....it take 30 seconds to put or take it off.

I would 100% pay a measly $260 for this option. I think this tailgate is one of the great things GM does way better than the other brands.

Agreed.. makes me kinda sad I have a 2020

Not really.

But  of course, there are also those that leave a standard gate down and then have an 'opportunity' with the corner of the trailer they are pulling.

And there are those that have opened a standard gate and hit a fixed trailer jack.

The 'internet' isn't up in arms about either of those possibilities.

I just figure most don't need protecting from themselves.

OTOH, some will require an expensive lesson.

For all the reasons in my previous post, the ball mount gets removed from mine when it's not hooked to one of the trailers.

If you ever haul anything in the back you will love having it, and if you don't have it you will regret it the first time you do haul something.  Its one of the best features and definitely helps when I have the wife will be to load something.  I'd but it 1000x over.  Just remove hitch when not using it like others have mentioned.
