Why does everyone rip on the GM interior?  Is everyone just band blind?  I know it is a opinion, but everyone talks about how nice Ford and Ram interiors are and that GM needs to catch up.  To me in the HD range the GM looks the best.  The Ford looks like it always has.  Some cheap looking buttons on the steering wheel and so on. The Ram has a bigger screen than the others, but what is everyone getting wet about.  Sure, if you think your truck is a horse you can get a Ram that looks like they took the outside of a woody from the 70s or 80s and put it inside the truck and added some leather buckles on the seat back storage.  Then they added more brown leather with sticking from bad cowboy pants, but that doesn't seem like luxury interior to me.  That makes me think people with desk jobs get it to make them feel like a cowboy.  The 1500s do look a little different, but not enough to bash GM saying that it looks cheap and it is not on the same level as Ford and Ram.  The Ford looks the cheapest to me it looks like plastic buttons on plastic panels.

Rant over...

You decide.  Here are pictures of the highest level trim interior from each.  I got these images from the manufacturers websites to make it fair.

Journalist opinions that seem to be parroted by others next thing you know its gospel. Try to see out of a Ram at night while backing, that big screen doesn't seem so nice then. Heck they are all hard to see out of due to all the ambient light in the interior! I think its better than Ford but not as opulent as Ram. To each his own but being way behind is a bit of a stretch.

Gosh, GM will be so extremely disappointed that all of those emergency redesign sessions they've held since 2019 have been in vain!

All I care about is that it's way nicer than my 2004 Ram was.  I love that it has a volume knob and knobs for the climate control.  I saw one guy on YT that threw a fit over the location and operation of the Tow/Haul button. My old truck had it on the end of the shifter.  I don't really mind the new location and love that it stays on persistently with restarts for a while so you don't have to keep turning it on after short stops.

I love the Ram infotainment personally, but i'm a sucker for huge TV's, computers, tablets and so on. But, Ram can keep everything else about their truck.

Ive owned all three.  And trim level does make a difference here.  Also Fords SD interior is about 4-5 years  old at this point compared to a much newer redesign of GM.  So all relative.

With that said Ram is killing it on the interior.  GM to TBH is so so at best and really so is the  Ford.

The interior in my Truck has the largest capacity and is 8 foot 2 inches long . This is what a Truck is supposed to be. Ohh and yes it has seats for me to sit in while its at work making me money..  I am so confused why people are buying trucks when they really need nothing more then a mini van.

If only a minivan could haul an 18,000 lb 5th wheel

I think because the interior refresh changed very little from the previous generation, some people expected revolutionary changes. The GM interior is perfectly functional and much of the discussion is simply personal taste. I actually prefer the simplicity of the GM interior; though the material quality could be better (the plastic trim and the leather/seat materials).

2022 F250 will look better, and the GM interior update is coming soon too.

Looks like the new F250 has much improved materials. But, for my taste, it also looks like it belongs in a sedan and is somewhat less “rugged” looking. No doubt, though, the marketing folks must believe this is what most consumers expect.

That looks like the 21 F150.  You are right GMs 2021 interior is much like the 2014 I had.  The issue with comparing models here is the big three are always at different stages,  like I said Ford was about 4-5 years behind GM this year but IMO were still about even,  but ford will be taking a leap before GM etc.  Cost a log of money to redesign.

My issue with GM is the silver looking plastic they put around the radio and other places and how they double trim out vents and stuff.  Not huge on needing a 54 in screen on a truck, but GM is fairly basic.  What I do love about the ford is the counsel shifter,  love that thing.  The dodge dial not a fan.

Just sold my '19 Ram 3500 Limited to get my current truck.  I gotta tell ya fellas, I was initially impressed with my Ram (especially the 12.1" touch screen), but I ended up having to replace it twice due to some malfunction.  The "wow factor" quickly wore off with that.  In addition, my driver seat started to wear prematurely resulting in it being replaced as well.  Other than that, it was a great truck!

Why the hell does so many people want bigger screens in a truck?! Do you drive them safely or are you watching ****** on the screen?

    • Maybe, but it seems he is the only one that has backed up data to prove what he is stating. I think he is doing this more because he enjoys it and wants to get the information out to us. He's got the knowledge and access to the proper equipment and having the funds doesn't hurt.  I would love to do what he is doing and would do it if and when I hit the Powerball.  I'm not a Tribologist by any means but love to learn what I can.   I would bet there would be doubting people out there if a completely independent lab with high quality work and highly respected in the automotive industry, put out information like this.  The world can't be pleased, one just has to take the information that they are given, do more of their own research to find actual lab data to back up what they are trying to figure/find out.  Most don't bother, they just want to believe what they first see.     I don't have the minimax but my 6.2 in my 2019 Silverado with 64k miles shows excellent UOA results with 0w-20 and for my own purposes 5w-20.  Since not much of a change using 5w. I liked the data sheet information on the SS 5w-20 and figured I would give it a try.  Still the same viscosity at 100℃.   In the end we all just do what makes us happy, life is too short to get upset over trivial social media.   On a side note, I do feel GM has dropped the ball and just cares about the bottom dollar and not quality anymore.  "Like a Rock" has been long gone.  Seems "Built Ford Tough" has as well.
    • Better than stock but that's like putting lipstick on a pig
    • Hello, my 3 month old Sierra Elevation wont recognize a trailer with electric brakes? All the lights work correctly, but no power to the brakes?   This is the factory installed brake controller. If you manually push the knob, the display shows the power % but does not light up like my 2022 silverado.   I have an appointment with the dealer, but was checking to see if anyone else has seen this issue.    Thanks,
    • Been using SS 0w-20 from new, but wanted to change to the 5w-20 because I liked the data on the data sheet, to me it seems like a little better product. But as you can see, not much difference. This is also with running a mix of 10 gallons E85 to a tank topped with 93. It isn't a flex fuel vehicle so any higher I get a CEL for running lean on both banks. Yes my mileage takes a hit. Instead of 20 mpg I normally get on trips I get 17mpg. This is also using EaO17 filter.  What is amazing is I have the AMSOIL cone filter on it since I have the GM Performance intake installed and that air filter has 44k miles on it.  I just take it out and shop vac it off once a year.  I use the upholstery tool on my shop vac.  Works well.
    • So, lot's of googling and reading, and a trial fit found, that indeed they hit the newer fatter caliper. I did some re-testing today, and found just 3/16" worth of washers was enough for the wheel to spin freely. I added 2 more on each, and again it spun freely. Tested lock to lock with the 4 washers, about 5/16" not quite the 3/8" Im considering, but pretty close. No issues. I've been looking at the BORA .375" spacers and using extended lugnuts to get back lost thread due to the spacer. All the ET lugs I've seen are all .33" reach inside the wheel lug holes. For those that don't like spacers or think they're unsafe, I think it depends on what type of spacers you're using and making sure you get good quality hubcentric ones, and if you're using bolt on ones, regular mainenance, checking the spacer lugs. Not wanting or needing that much spread. Looking for the minimum that will let me run these rims and tires.  it does look to stick out a little, but I really want put these on. and use the stock all-terrains in the winter.
