RAM comes up short in almost every other respect. Just my assessment and opinion of course.  And I won't be tearing apart anything.  That's why I'm asking if there was a solution that might have been simple. Looks like probably not.  Have a great day JimCost2014 you deserve it.

You've answered your own question. You can source a rear seat without the storage compartments from an auto dismantler and swap them out if that is your only concern. You may have to get creative with

I'd like to thank all of you for assisting me.  I know it's a problem only I would create but I will certainly look into all the suggestions.  The GMC was in a different league for sure.  I've never seen a truck that nice, and I'm blessed beyond measure to be in the position to own one.  Thanks again gents.  I'll report back.

Probably a low tech solution, but have you looked at pillows that they could use behind them? I know it's not ideal, just trying to think outside the swap route.

Definitely a solution. I'm going to drive the Ford just to check it off the list first, then think long and hard as to whether or not this is truly a deal breaker.  And likely pillows, or some type of seat back cushion will probably be my answer.  Thanks sir.

ford v6 is a disaster to own long term, lease em all (Ford, Chevy, Dodge) and trash after 6 years. support is gonna be going away fast , 2030 is roughly the end of 1500 trucks...

Its always funny to me how people are so different. We tested a Ram 2500 first, but my kids hated the back seat. We've owned our GMC now for 4 months and no issues. I sit back there a lot now as my daughter is learning to drive and my wife still sits up front. That leave me in the  back with the other two kids. I haven't been on any long trips back there, but I don't find it uncomfortable. It's also funny to hear people basically say their kids don't matter. They do! Unhappy kids in the back seat on a long drive can easily ruin a trip. Good luck man.

Maybe remove some of the padding from the cover in that area?  upholstery shop should be able to handle without too much issue.

My truck is my daily driver. I'm also the primary caretaker of my children. Therefore, they spend more time in the back of my truck then in the back of mom's SUV. I've been on many long trips, and had the kids in the back seat. One of those trips was east coast to west coast. None complained about the rear seat. Personally, I love the rear seat storage. That's where I keep handguns. I'm not kidding. A handgun and a few loaded magazines in each compartment. Since you mentioned you go on long trips with the family, I instantly thought of camping and couldn't help but think how a 10mm in one of those storage compartments was ideal for camping should an uninvited predator come to play.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.

      I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!

      I haven't seen inventory recovery from COVID.    In the few random times I 'build my own' truck or SUV, no one has the exact one I want.   GM has been working to lower incentives too for a long time.    A $500 incentive isn't getting me off the couch to go truck shopping.
