Something I want to add. I know in the report it explained about getting oil mid-stream which is what I did. I marked on the paper I did too so I'm not sure why they spoke about it in the summary.

Maybe because you didn't specify about longer change intervals. Also you only have about 3k on the oil. Also you did specify that you pulled the sample that way so they followed up on that. That procedure is normal unless you pulled the sample by other means like dumping it out of your oil filter. 0w20 is a synthetic as well. I doubt they had that much to say. It wasn't an extended drain interval and they didn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Both Leo’s and Steelers results have one thing Bklabs does well. Insolubles. 
In a modern ecotec 5.3 in 3000 miles 0.2 is terrible. 
Leo’s has the Amsoil bypass and full flow and has same insolubles level. Any detectable insolubles IN TODAYS engines is not acceptable.  Especially if you can filter them out or run a short interval. Suggests both aren’t tuned well or ideally.

Oil analysts is probably good for peace of mind. And does provide good conversation. It’s been made as evidence that if you pay attention you do get warnings when your ride isn’t happy. Vehicles have been rehabilitated by flushing different oils and increasing OCIs. Turning around potential failures and restoring longevity.

I run the engine hard which is no excuse. They labeled the engine as an ecotec but it's a Gen 4 5.3l with 190k+ on the clock. I haven't had issues with the tune and my fuels trims are running within the 3% +/- mark. With a 10k OCI I don't think 0.2 insolubles is bad.

Also what's probably causing the insolubles is before I change my oil I perform a intake plenum and valve cleaning service via the dirty air pcv entrance on top of the intake plenum. 1 whole bottle of BG platinum air intake, valve and combustion chamber cleaner. Maybe that's the cause from carbon getting past the piston rings?

Maybe Leo,  but the filters set up you have you should see a lower insolubles unless its fuel related. After 45 years of oil analysis work at a OEM R&D level I am saying  that the pentane insolubles 0.2% levels is high.  Bklabs analysts don't have that level of testing experience of engines, fuels, lubes, including emission calibrations of modern engines.

Well hopefully my next sample will change. I'll skip the cleaner and try a sample then. Won't be till next year unless I magically win the lottery to afford a cam swap. 🤣

This Pennzoil 0w40 stinks BTW. At least in this application. No wonder it was so cheap!

Same thing with that oil analysis. Thats a generic industrial lab analysis. Not a good ISO Certified automotive one from @Black02Silverado. Get what ya pay for.  TESTOIL cannot compete with Nicks work by design.  12,000 miles and that wear is still terrible.

      I was the GM of a Lincoln Mercury dealership back in the 80's. The service lot was always full with "broken" ones. Plenty of transmissions, power windows and a/c repairs. The only one I'd consider owning would be the Marauder at this point and it certainly wouldn't be a daily driver.  My 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate is my "Lincoln Town Car" in my retirement. I want all the "stuff". Big infotainment screens, one touch power windows, Supercruise (I won't buy another vehicle without it), hands free pretty much everything. I'm going to swap my current truck for a 2027 Yukon Denali Ultimate so I can have the air suspension and surround vision recording along with all the other "stuff".

      The Denali Ultimate's grille is tinted, but the "regular' Denali has a bright chrome grille like the current models.

They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park!       Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
