Did the dealer happen to mention potentially how much time this could add to the whole process?

They said the timeframe was TBD.  So i changed my order to a standard bed.  I am just sick of waiting.

Just to reinforce that Atlanta is total Ford country, I actually took the time today on my backroad (not really backroad just not interstate) 10 mile journey to work.  Here's the actual tally counting HD's only....10 Fords, 2 Rams....0 Chevy or GMC.  On the way home today I actually saw 1 GMC HD...So yeah, Atlanta is Ford country for sure.  But I love that because I do love owning a truck that isn't seen a million times everyday by others.  When it comes to half tons, Ford wins but I also see quite a few GM's too.  But Ford rules the HD market here hands down!

That’s true in my area. The heavy duty trucks and fleets are Ford dominated. I’m seeing more Rams in the 1/2 ton arena. The SUVs lean GM with Hyundai becoming more prevalent within the last couple of years.

I am starting to see a few std cab long beds on lots around here. They have been building over 1000 trucks per day in Flint since right after the full launch and it seems like they have gotten through the initial flood of orders. I ended up getting my truck much earlier than I anticipated. It looks like they are starting to build out the models that arent crew cab std bed in bigger numbers.

I originally ordered a 23' High Country Duramax back in October. At the end of February my dealer said it got converted to a 2024 and if I still wanted that. I said yes, but change it to a Midnight Edition, so they did. That decision was made 3/2.

On 5/3, they also ordered me the exact truck but a non-midnight edition thinking it may come sooner.

Every few days I check with the chevy website chatbox and give them my order numbers and I always get the same response. Dealer placed it, not accepted at this time.

I did order it from a high volume dealer.

I was also told that the midnight edition was on constraint and production time was unknown. Now I see my exact build (a midnight) in transit to a small town dealer an hour away.

Just getting tired of waiting, so I'm complaining ha!

Got a call from the dealer, crew cab long box configuration is now on constraint

I had the same conversation.  Dealer said they finally had allocation for my order but Crew Cab Long Bed was on constraint.  They said they could push my order through now if I switched to Standard Bed.  I decided to wait for now.

Originally ordered an LT gasser crew cab long box, 12/20/23, sometime in April dealer said they had a slot and could do everything but long box,  I said go with it as I wanted the truck asap.   Two weeks ago they called and said they had kept the order in for the long box and it was actually being built also.  Both are in transit now and it looks like the long box will arrive sooner anyway as the standard box is coming from Oshawa.

According to the Chevy chat box, my order was built last week, so now its the waiting game to see which plant it was built at and when it will ship.

Changed my mind again.  Still no acceptance of my order.   So i decided to take one that the dealer had coming in for inventory.  It is built and sitting in flint waiting for transport.  The only thing it is missing from my build is the Z71 pkg and the multi flex tailgate, which i am ok doing without.

Ordered a 2024 Sierra HD Denali.

Deposit to dealer 3/2/2023

Order Accepted 3/15/2023

Window Sticker Produced 5/24/2023

Vehicle on Train From Flint Michigan to Washington DC 6/8/2023

Estimated ETA at Dealer 6/16/2023

New ETA 07/15/2023

The dealer who charged me full sticker at $80,000 forgot to order the optional wheels that I picked out.

The price of the wheels at time of order showed $798 for 4 on the website.  Now they show $3500.

I told them I wouldn't accept the truck without the wheels.  They have supposedly ordered them at their expense but now I'll have a truck sitting at the dealer for several weeks waiting on the wheels.

That stinks, but at least they are ordering them at their expense and you get what you wanted. I'm just hoping something breaks loose at the Oshawa plant for Chevy's and they can start shipping them out. My dealer currently has 8 sitting up there, including mine waiting for delivery.

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
