Problem is, you need to drive the vehicle in between the three drain and fills. Sigh.

I went a week between. I’m at 20K on the last drain and fill. All is well.

The Terrain is 5 quarts and a filter. It has a Valvomax and the filter is easy. 3 minutes to start the drain and change the filter then go have lunch. 2 minutes to button it up when I return. 10 minutes to charge the oil (have a cuppa) and I drive by my NAPA than has an oil tote. $45 This change is so easy I can do it in any weather that you would normally be outside in anyway.

The pickup is 6 quart and boutique. About $85-$90 in supplies and a pain due to the filter placement and belly pan. I had one guy I trust that would do this change for $20. The rest insist on using their supplies. So....I do it myself now that he found other work. Four or five times a year. Every 5K.

Two cars are 4 or 5 quarts depending on which one and not too bad to do. All have Valvomax systems. Once a year in the spring. Boutique changes as well. $12 a quart and filter.

Last time a dealer changed oil was the day I picked up Pepper from them. Part of the prep work. I'm old and the pickup beats me up some but......I've taken worse.

It might have gone up as I haven't been in a year or so, but $70 CDN at Costco for Mobil full synthetic.

Yes, Costco does oil changes in some provinces in Canada. And they back their work if they mess up (very rare) to the tune of an engine replacement.

Book an appointment online, drop off at the garage. You've got 45 min to do your shopping. Very convenient.

$89 at Classic Chevrolet, they usually send out a $15-$25 coupon in between changes so that knocks it down to ~$65-$75 for the oil change, but it also includes tire rotation, and they vacuum out my interior, and top off my windshield pisser fluid ( i use it a lot so its usually empty when i go in)

I used to change my own fluid but once i hit 48, its just easier and worth the extra couple of bucks to have it done for me while i wait.

yeah for that amount, I'd pay to have it done. That's basically the deal I'm after.

If I still used my truck on a regular basis it would get Amsoil OE, Wix filter. $54 for DIY. No waiting, driving to a shop, wondering what they did wrong or missed.

Hopefully your dealer will send you some coupons or you could ask about service specials. Never go past 5000 miles on that truck.

Used to do all oil changes on all my vehicles......

I retired 4-years ago and I also retired from oil changes......no more of that crap, I retired to enjoy life and do fun stuff.

Oil changes don't fit in my schedule!

About $100 give/take for oil change and tire rotation....

I change oil myself. Don't trust the quickie places after a couple bad experiences in the past. Cost me usually less than $45................Just under $10 for PF63 AC/Delco oil filter and just under $20/5qt. jug of SuperTech 10W30. Usually buy 2 of the SuperTech 5qt. jugs and carry a spare quart or 2.............and then around the 2nd-3rd oil change time, I just need to buy 1 5qt. jug.

Change oil about 3500-4000 miles on average......................which is about every 5-6 weeks for me.

I change the oil myself so about $55-$60 for 8 quarts of quality oil and a quality filter. Changing the oil myself allows me to inspect the underbody and make sure everything is good. The only reason I was able to catch and repair a transfer case leak was because I noticed it when I was under the truck doing an oil change. Otherwise, I never would have known of the leak until it was too late which would have cost A LOT of $$$.

Going to the dealership, they catch those things also having it up on the rack, multi-point inspection. There's some value to that. Those guys look at same vehicles day in & day out, they know what to look for. I had free software updates installed when getting oil changes at dealer on my last vehicle. Sometimes you find out about a recall issue that might need attention. Its something to consider

Maybe, maybe not. I've had SO MANY dealerships claim stuff needed repair that didn't that I take whatever they say with a grain of salt. If my private mechanic tells me something is broken, I take him at his word every time.
