Wasn't that the springs debacle back in mid 2020 to March 2021? I think I looked after mine arrived off the truck and it was an April build date on the engine so I was relieved. NHTSA's site says I'm part of this current recall, but I need to get under there and check again for the exact date.

I'm not even sure it's worth my time to take it to the local dealer given my upgrades. Just swap out the oil and pray nothing happens until I get the funds and replace all the internals myself. I do have a decent report with them...I suppose the worse they can tell me is no.

I "could" be wrong but if the recall doesn't get closed, I don't think the extended warranty takes effect.

Also.  Replacing the internals yourself is no good if there is block machining issues.

Saw on a YouTube video with some commenters saying after they had their truck tested at the dealer and the oil was changed and the picoscope test performed successfully that in the My Chevrolet app their warranty coverage was updated to show the 10 year 150K mile engine warranty in effect. I checked after I read this and it just shows the recall open for my truck. Haven't been to the dealer or tried to call them yet.

I didn't think you could go in until the recall plan was designated as having a resolution(I haven't checked recently), and we got our official letters. Did anyone here get their letter, yet?

Edit: Just checked. Mine still says:

Remedy not available

Its all in batches.  They aren't releasing all VINs to have it done at once.  Its a phased VIN rollout.

No news here and mine is very early in the 21 vin sequence. 03/21 with an engine build end of Feb.

What's the consensus on oil weight before the recall is checked with Pico scope? My 24 is due for its first oil change (1300 miles) but not sure what to put in it. I would just go 0w40 but not sure how that will affect the noise test in the recall. Right now my vin says "Remedy not available"

Interesting.  Are you sure you are in the vin range for the recall?  My build was 02/21 and it was built prior to the recall vin range, and was not included, however the engine blew anyways and the engine was replaced.

Yes my bad on the date 03/21

Your first oil change is free through Chevrolet. I don't know if they'll do it that early though. I changed mine at 1000 miles myself. They would put whatever is deemed necessary in it. Currently it's still 0W20 unless they've done the recall check and determined your engine is OK and should be switched to 0W40.

‘24 ATX4

took it in for a routine oil change this week

asked about recall. He said they’d put the new oil in now and call me when it was time to do the new engine test.

and he mentioned the warranty being extended.

I just put napa 5w-30 in my september built 2024.  the 40 weight mobil 1 oils according to lake speed jr barely meet the 40 requirement, might as well use 30 which is an excellent oil with valvoline base.  this is my second change, 1st was 1000 miles this one is at 3,900.  i see no obvious forbidden glitter.  oil is going to speed diagnostix for testing.

How does it sound? I took a vid of my new L84, 5.3 at 597 miles. Factory fill 0w20. I changed it out to 5w30 and took another vid. Noticeable difference in sound. After 2`nd 5w30 oil change, even better. The remaining 0w20 was out of the engine.

The diesel sound is gone.

Here's my contributing to the thread to help it reach 30 pages.

I read every single post in this thread.  It took a few days, but I got through it.  I have a 2020 6.2, so this issue caused me concerns.  Thank you guys for clearing the air on why the 2020 isn't part of the recall.  I just did an oil change yesterday with Mobil 1 0w-20 Truck & SUV.  The truck was due and that's what I normally use with a Wix XP filter.  I had questions about going with Ow-40, but the info here kept me from doing that.

I don't know how my 2020 has managed to miss every recall so far and TSB so far, but I'm thankful it has.  I love my truck, and I'm very glad I bought it in July 2020

the cold start noise is gone.  could be placebo but it runs better, idles better, probably placebo.
