Gary2500LTZ Posted September 18, 2025 Posted September 18, 2025 Has anyone noticed their power steering making a moaning noise when hard over either direction? Wondering if this is normal. I have never had a vehicle make so much noise when having wheel cranked. Almost like fluid not flowing correctly. I have not checked power steering fluid level if there is such a check.

EXSlider400 Posted October 3, 2025 Posted October 3, 2025 (edited) Yeah, my power steering flow sounds like it has air or rocks in it from day one… any pressure on the steering wheel in either direction it hisses and bubbles…sounds like this L8T is an L5P. I need to bring it to the dealer before the warranty runs out. From reading other responses though I’m afraid that’s just normal…. I guess the other option would just be to go test drive a comparable truck and see if it makes the same noise… but that still doesn’t fix it. I assume it is like others have said and related to the digital steering assist (RPO code NV8). Did find this though: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11013018-0001.pdf Edited October 3, 2025 by EXSlider400
Epsilon Plus Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 For the 2020-2023 only the LTZ and above trim got the digital. Don't know about the 24+ but it's probably the same. Use only PS fluid, not ATF. The system can be bled although it's potentially messy and doesn't look super easy. PS fluid expands so there is a cold and hot check mark just like the transmission. Check with engine running. You want to really hear it groan? Strap a stabilizer and some 35psi 37" tires to it and do a slow speed full lock turn

Dunn Posted October 10, 2025 Posted October 10, 2025 correct it is LTZ and above that get digital....had a 2020 and 2022 LT and it hissed and bubbled at full lock and only had std standard steering, owned a 23 HC and currently a 24 SLT both with the digital and don't notice it as much and or maybe just dont use full lock......could be I am just used to it though, the steering is definitely noticeable at slow speeds between the 2.... like a 1500 with digital..

I don’t recall ever needing to crank the wheel to full lock. Ever. So I’ve never heard anything out of the ordinary.

newdude Posted October 16, 2025 Posted October 16, 2025 Updating this topic a bit as I just noticed OP has in his signature that they drive a 2025 LTZ Trail Boss, so it would have the NV8 digital steering.
