Anybody else been told that the new trucks don't come with a manual in the glove box anymore?

My new 2500 HD didn't have a manual, just a small little booklet about the infotainment system.

Salesman told me they don't  include one anymore because all the information is in the menu system.

$55 to get a paper copy.  Gotta keep skimming the costs down for the Generous Mother.  In their defense, I suspect you can find a lot of paper owner's manuals in junkyards dutifully stowed in the glove box of said junk vehicle with nary a crease in them.

I believe you can also download a pdf copy to your phone in the Chevy/GMC app.

Being that your in the states it should be fairly straight forward to order one as per that link XY74 provided. It was an entirely different story because I am in Canada and many times the cost and I had one shipped but the shipping company threw it in the trash in Canada simply because I have a rural address and it took months to figure all this out but Helm was very kind to me and at their loss of the shipping etc and the book refunded me and suggested I order it through the Chevy dealer which I did and eventually did get the manual but with that same insanely inflated cost because of duty and shipping. The only catch would be if they no longer have the book your after in production or a delay due to having to do a print run on them.

Crazy they are not supplied with a $75K new truck. I ordered one off ebay, $57 shipped.

Correct.

They began phasing them out in 2023.  I "think" Corvette might be the only one left that gets a full manual included, maybe some Cadillacs?  They only provide a "getting to know your XXXXX" book, warranty booklet and if you have a diesel, the diesel supplement.

Its all online though, and its interactive.  You can click on the chapters and it takes you to them, and you can hit CTRL+F and search it quickly.

You can also access it in the MyChevrolet app on your phone if you have that set up, or in the MyChevrolet app in your radio screen and pull it up right in the vehicle.

Here's the manuals page from the Chevrolet website.  They have from 1993 to current on there -

Manuals and Guides | Vehicle Support | Chevy   This is by far the easiest and best method of reading the manual IMO.

You can buy paper ones on eBay or from Helm Inc, who makes all of those books.  $$$ from Helm though, usually $80-90 to your door.  Even $57 from eBay is steep when you can just access it online for free.

Luckily my 22 poverty edition came with a manual still. I guess I can call it a collectors edition. Last year with an owners manual. Haha

Both my trucks came with them when I bought them used, neither appeared to have been opened much.  I downloaded hte pdf's for them from gm, I find the pdf to be more useful, as searching and flipping pages is faster on the computer.

And for the new trucks, GM splits the info across multiple manuals, so be sure to download all the pdfs for your model truck

2026s.  Not 2025s.  And a VERY small number of trucks.

"

Affected vehicles:

Number of affected vehicles: This recall covers 169 Silverado 1500 units, 3,211 Silverado 2500 HD units, and 28 Silverado 3500 HD units."

“Poverty Edition” - haven’t heard that one before. I like it!  I have used “Sensible Edition” for my base model 2004 Yukon XL. Its cloth interior still looks like new.

    • AMSOIL SS is about prevention and it is very good at it's job. I've never seen it claim to be a cleaner however like Valvoline R&P. Almost any oil that has some Ester or Alkylated Naphthalene in sufficient quantity will do a good job at keeping the rings functional.     I see the market splint among these types in two groups; those that use the same tech in every weight grade and those that reserve the tech for the EPA (EPA) friendly grades. Mobil 1 for example keeps the Advanced Clean chemistry out of the SAE 40 and up weights. Other like HPL (top shelf group and No-VII), Red Line HP, TORCO, MPT30K use the tech in all grades. Just not something the Wally World oils are into.

    • True. My statement needs qualification. "For a shade tree mechanic, re-assembling the front engine to achieve a rough baseline timing of 0 degrees, as is approximated and indicated by common visual indicator mark alignment, measured with a human eye capable of 20/20 vision *with correction, I am reasonably confident that I have followed the outlined procedures/ prescribed methods for verifying baseline timing."   😉   In the end, the computer sets the timing, it's continuously variable based on sensor input, and the distributor only has a degree or two of physical adjustability intended for dialing in the final setting for cam ****** once everything is back together. But even that final value is acceptable within, I believe, +/- 3 degrees.   I thought my exhaust project was going to be a bear. To my surprise, the old clamps came right off last night, and I was able to unbolt all the hangers instead of having to muscle the rubber mounts. The old cat is ready to slip off the factory y-pipe. The rest is ready to come out with one or two cuts, and I've got a fresh blade waiting. I love living where rust isn't a thing.
