I'm only lifted 3" on 35s with no steps and I told my wife, if she can't get in, I'll have to find a girl who can. She did NOT find it funny.3 points

Thanks, and yeah, you called it. I heard back from insurance and they are going forward with repairs. I've only been more happy to have a 5.3L once... and that was the day I picked this thing up as my first truck, first chevy, and first car I went out of my way to look for, and purchase. Proud of it. I just hope it doesn't do what my jeep did and exact revenge every time I cash a paycheck XD Thanks to everybody for their kind words on the whole thing. Pretty tore up about it as the other guy had his family with a little girl inside. Even though I have a girlfriend and no kids planned, it still hit me hardest to see her being pulled out afterwards. That'll stick with me for a while. Glad they came away with no injuries too. Sent from my SM-G986U1 using Tapatalk2 points

Thanks! Tires are LT285/55R22 Ridge Grapplers. HUGE shout-out to @PabloK for the help in selecting the maximum tire size without rubbing. He's a good dude!2 points

I have 53k miles on my 2018 and last weekend on my way from Jersey to WV the water pump blew up at Hagerstown, MD. Ruined my trip BUT GM did right be me. Happened on Friday evening. GM towed to the Hagerstown dealership. I had a place to stay as my in laws live 10 minutes from where I broke down. On Saturday morning, GM offered to put me up or get me a loaner to finish my trip. Got the part ordered Saturday, delivered/installed Monday and got me headed home. Warranty covered. For a bad situation, it turned out as good as it could have. I don't have pics of the water pump but when I say it blew up, it was in pieces.1 point

Back earlier from the dealership, very satisfied. The issue was a weak output from the vacuum pump, they put in a new pump & corresponding belt. This is an issue that has come up among many with a search. It took a full 1.5 hours, parts in stock. I haven’t had time for a code check yet, the brakes work perfectly at the slow speeds, engine at idle. That vacuum pump looks a bit hard to get at. There was no cost to me. It’s kinda like an ‘on demand’ recall, with no open recalls on this truck currently.1 point

I love it man! He doesn’t sugar coat anything. And if there’s something you aren’t satisfied with, he’ll do his best to fix it. My truck was having problem idling after the first time I got tuned, he said bring it back and he’ll fix it right away. Then yesterday after we finished up, I drove away and the throttle felt a lil too touchy... he stopped tuning the car that he was in and came to fix my throttle right away. We also went for a drive around to block to really make sure it was how I like it. Starting and stopping a few times. Really straight forward guy! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I had two 1999 Rams. 1500 4x4 318/ 5 speed and a 2500 2WD CTD/ auto. Rust was the only issue that got to either of them. Great trucks. My biggest regret is probably my 19. These trucks were not ready for prime time. Shoulda held off for what the 2022 is gonna be.1 point

Hey Jaime, Where in Nor Cal are you? I have an epic story about getting my truck and then my dad's truck stuck after we tried to use it to get me out of the sandy Salinas River. Long story not made short, I was wheelin' my truck when it got stuck in sand (the Salinas River is an underground river and makes for a lot of "quicksand" areas. We were trying to dig and slide my struck out when some city engineers that we saw pass by up on the banks a while back opened up some of the dam gates upriver and a trickle of water started coming our way. The trickle became bigger, and bigger, and bigger and then our efforts had to quickly shift to digging trenches and new pathways for the water to flow AROUND the truck. I called my brother in the meantime and he drove my dad's truck down the river to where I was. We could tell that it wasn't going to work and that he shouldn't get too close, but it was too late. Even with heavily deflated tires he got sucked in. A group of ATVs passed by, said that a friend's truck with 44s got stuck there a week ago, and tried to help pull us out, but no luck. So there we were with two relatively new trucks about to be eaten by the river; DEFINITELY an insurance claim that would get denied in two seconds (trespassing and operating off-road). My only hope was to get a field tractor down there (Salinas is a huge agricultural town and those field tractors can get in and out of anything). So I called a friend that's high up in the Merrill Farms company and he sends down a tractor to help me. I thought it was just going to be one of the run of the mill field tractors, but instead here comes this massive tank treaded CAT. It pulls us out like it's pulling out two feathers and we make it out just before the entire area is TOTALLY UNDERWATER! It was like a movie!!! We make it up the banks and back onto the farm road and see that the exit to the paved street is blocked by a field truck. We know that we're in trouble for trespassing, so we drive up to the land owner and he lets us have it. We accept full responsibility, but he decides not to involve the law because he knows my family and the family that helped get us out. Nonetheless, I offer to mend fences, literally, and go back the next day and work on a fence line to keep that entrance blocked from stupid teen/20yr old kids like myself. As for the tractor driver and my friend that sent him, the payment there was a new $400 Callaway Big Bertha for the tractor driver.1 point

First 3 are usually done based on the wear of the part at the time. Everyone drives differently so those parts will wear differently. All figures in miles. Doubt you'll get 80k from your tires. Condition of tires and handling will tell you. Visually inspect them Brakes you may get more than 80, depending on how you drive. Change when they show the signs. On my 2004, I'm still rocking original at 140k. I know many on here change before 80k. Again visually inspect them Synthetic oil with a quality filter, generally I'd say people may stick with 5k - 7.5k max. 5k is more my preference. Some prefer 3k Tranny fluid, I'd say you're spot on. 50k Don't forget diff fluids. Plenty of other opinions will be posted, be patient1 point

Towing at the limit half a dozen times a year will never justify the added cost of upgrading trucks. Especially when its an otherwise daily driver. If the limit is 10000 lbs, the limit is 10000 lbs, I'm not going to stop at 5000 lbs to make a bunch of worry warts feel warm and fuzzy. If everything is set up correctly, the weight is distributed correctly, brakes are working sway is minimal... go for it.1 point

Back in my diesel driving days 165-220 horsepower the only saving grace was tuning. Never had a wear problem. Gas engines didn’t have much more. But diesel we’re easer to tune then. Now gas engines are a lot more efficient and fun to drive. Can’t really see an advantage to diesel these days. Unless pulling really heavy. Then I would go to a two ton. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

The 3.0 diesel is $1500 cheaper than the 6.2 and only around 1k more than the 5.3. Plus, it gets the 10 speed instead of the 8 speed (paired with the 5.3 in the lower trims).1 point

Whatever makes the first window crack is likely to make the replacement crack too. It has played out that way several times here. So I guess in some twisted way, having a well done seam sealer job over the original cracked frame may actually hold up longer and be preferable to another replacement window. The problem is, things are rarely ever done well and I wouldn’t trust either process.1 point

Always a problem with Diesels is instant power as you have to wait for the turbo to build boost before it will take off. I had a 04 Duramax LLY when I towed boats and most of the time pulling out from a side street with traffic I had to put my foot on the brake and give about half throttle to build boost before I could shoot out onto the road quickly. Truck has been gone for awhile due to not needing it for towing and went back to gas. People always say they got the Diesel for MPG over gas MPG and if you think about it the Diesel is around $7000 more then the gas motor now 7 grand can buy you a hell of a lot of gas with the difference of maybe 3-4 more mpg in the diesel you will never see the savings over the life of the diesel not to mention the maintenance the diesel over gas. The 3.0 Duramax has to have the oil pump belt replaced at 150,000 miles and the tranny has to be pulled out to access the belt now what kinda piss poor job is that design.1 point

Just to update, I did look again at the post with pictures of the inside of the camera that was provided by Chuck showing the connector. It was simple the coax wire harness just plugs into the rear of the camera. I just unplugged it and used that end and routed it through my trailer. It sure made things easier because of its size. Everything worked perfect, I love having the camera on the rear of my 5th wheel.1 point

After putting the new tires on I thought I'd take it in for an alignment. Glad I did it was a little off. Andover Wheel and Frame got it dialed in again. It tracks straight. Let go of the wheel and it goes straight forever. Can't say enough about this outfit. They know their schittt Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk1 point

There is certainly a big difference between the trucks that are treated right, and the ones that are not. I have felt that on myself actually. The first truck that I have ever bought was a ford f-150, back in 2006. I haven't followed those rules, and the truck started to run bad, while back in 2015 I bought a new gmc sierra 2500hd. I have followed all those rules, and it is still going really great. Even more, I used work on it, while working for a car shipping company, and it had no problems with that. Right now I am not working anymore, I have opnened my own company, called for the services of https://factorforyou.com/trucking-factoring-companies/, and now I am just chilling and getting money.1 point

2021. Fuel 18 x 9 plus 1offset Blitz wheels with factory Duratracs. 50 calibre style antenna. Wrapped the front GMC with carbon fibre look vinyl from Canadian Tire. Plasti dipped all the other emblems. Added a compustar T 13 remote start and dash cam. Expel on most of the front end. Dealer offered black powder coated exhaust tips installed for $200. Also had them swap out the special “carpet” floor mats which will get full of mud anyway and I don’t want snaps that will rust on the floor. Added a hard to find skinny low profile black tool box as well so I can still fit my bike in the back. And got rid of the red tow hooks ( I know some people like them but I don’t )1 point

I don't have turning data on the early 2000's (the GMT 800 generation chassis). The 1500 frame changed for start of GMT900 program (2006ish) but the HD frame did not. However, in 2011, the HD frame and chassis was completely updated (even though the body/interior was the same between 10 and 11). The frame/chassis stayed the same from 11 thru 19, even though the body changed half way through that period. The 2020 HD is all new. Everything, except the engine -- and it has some external changes -- oil cooler and the huge updates to the cooling system. 2020HD crew standard turning circle is 52.7ft, wheelbase 158.9" (OAL 250.1) 2019HD crew standard turning circle is 51.5ft, wheelbase 153.7: (OAL 239.5) 2020 1500 crew standard (on 20" or 22") 50.2ft. 156.98" (OAL 241.25) 2020 1500 crew short (on 20" or 22") 46.9ft, 147.43" (OAL 231.7") 1500 turning circles on smaller wheel diameters are about a half a foot less.1 point

Just did it today, wired it to the grey wire(the one not in the corner of the connector) connected to the door sensors on the white connector of the bcm, the lights come on when I open any door, and all for $25. As for dimming, you can wire in a potentiometer/dimmer switch directly into the loop of the lights wiring right before the first light if you really want the option.1 point
