Someone in another thread got the update and was asking what it was for, as they hadn't seen the announcement. So some are getting it already. Bulletin says dealer can manually load it.

Requires the tool. Dealer here keeps one in service reception, and will do the walk-around free-gratis as a good-will gesture.

Wireless CP and AA is new for 2021 model. It's standard on upper trims and available on mid trims.

And just to confuse things more about alternators -- (which seem to get higher capacity every few years.) On 2021: KW7 Alternator, 170 amps 1 - Requires (L8T) 6.6L V8 gas engine. Also KW5 Alternator, 220 amps 1 - Included with (L5P) Duramax 6.6L Turbo-Diesel V8 engine or (VYU) Snow Plow Prep/Camper Package. Free flow on (L8T) 6.6L V8 gas engine. And available on either engine - KHF Alternators, dual, 220-amps primary, 170-amps auxiliary

Many short trips at speed is a different issue than only doing 2 short stop-and-go trips for work commute each day.

From a techlink article on the 3.0L: While the owner’s manual states an engine block heater should be used in temperatures less than 0°F/–18°C, it isn’t vital until much lower temperatures of less than –13°F/–25°C.

Factory integrated brake controller does have output that is proportional to the braking level applied to the vehicle, and to the gain setting on the control. I have more than one Dexter axle equipped enclosed trailer. Mine are working fine with the factory controllers. They are not used frequently, so each time I hook one up I plug/unplug the 7-pin several times to improve contact. I also drag the brakes lightly when first pulling to polish of any surface corrosion. The go thru the exercise of following recommended procedure for setting the correct gain for the current load. Similar story with a larger and heavier loaded flat deck that was used much more often, but has now been sold. It was pulled with a 2011 2500 with ITBC. the enclosed ones have been behind several '11 and newer 1500 and 2500's. Don't think I've ever needed to set one near maximum.

GM has had the Autotrac version on the 1500's for a bunch of years. It's new to the HDs for 2020. On current HD's, the LT and SLE are the only trims that can have either box. Lower only get the NQF, higher only get the NQH FWIW, the 1500's now have an autotrac box that doesn't have 4Lo as std on lower trims. NP0 Transfer case, single speed, electronic Autotrac with push button control (4WD models only)

They are different transfer cases.

Seems to be some confusion about the different transfer cases. The older transfer case with the floor shift. The version with the knob controlled electronic shifter that has been available for a bunch of years now. The 'autotrac' box, which is new on HD's starting in 2020, although 1500's have had an autotrac box for a number of years. Autotrac has the additional mode where the truck decides when it should engage the transfer case. These two have been in use for a number of years: NQG Transfer case, with floor-mounted shifter NQF Transfer case, electronic shift with rotary dial controls Starting in 2020 we have modified controls on NFQ, and NQH Autotrac has been added. Pretty easy to check with the mile markers on the freeway.

The way I read it, the ' Test the view of the Camera' instructions it is possible to do what you are wanting, and test the camera view without mounting or calibrating. I've only had mine a couple of days and haven't tried it yet to verify that those instructions work. I intend to do the same thing as you, and test before going to the work of installing harness and camera. Did you also try it on the 'inside trailer' connection? I guess I'm assuming that the same camera type can be installed for either job.

You connected trailer -- did this include plugging in the trailer 7 way plug? (this is what activates the camera connections) Did you try the instructions on sheet 7 for how to 'test the view of the camera'?

Grab a tape measure, visit a dealer lot and measure one -- then you will be able to estimate if your existing cover provides enough coverage.

I'm a little surprised the AFM engines that are still in use don't have the indicator. DFM ones don't because there are so many possible modes. Even for the '21's are still using the AFM engines in lower trims. L82 5.3 in the lower trims is an AFM engine. L84 5.3 in higher trims is a DFM engine. 4.3L is also still an AFM engine.

They are just different trims. The things underneath that make them trucks are identical.

I messed up. It was 7.5 weeks rather than 6.5 ... sort of. Yes, my dealer was surprised too. They had told me probably wouldn't see it til mid/late December. Orders are picked up by GM every Friday for the processing/acceptance/allocation process. Didn't get picked up the first week. So it was 6.5 weeks from when it got picked up. We made event code 3000 by the late the next week. (3000 is 'accepted by production control'; doesn't have a vin yet) Inquired with GM chat during 5th week, and got word on the Friday from them (and from dealer) that it was built and awaiting shipping. (code for out in the loop to get box liner sprayed before shipping?) It was on the ground at dealer by the Friday two weeks later. Picked it up middle of the next week (couple days ago...) 7.5 weeks from first order submission to GM 6.5 weeks from order acceptance. VIN's are issued during the assembly process. Tracking uses the order number (6 letters). (possibly this has to do with Fed regs regarding how VIN's are to be managed.) I hadn't bothered to ask for vin, because having it really doesn't change anything (except verify which assembly plant built it) When I knew it was on the way, I build/priced one the same as I'd ordered -- curious to see if any pricing/program changes. When done I used the inventory search feature to see if there were other similar ones -- and my truck showed up on GM's site as inventory, at the dealer I used, and it listed the vin that turned out to be the one on the truck. Nope, dealer did not order 2 the same. (I asked them) Nope, the truck was not listed as inventory on the dealers site. It was only on the GM site 'inventory' listing of similar trucks at many dealers. So, I first got the vin from GM's build/price site listing of inventory.

Mine was Ft.Wayne crew std box. 45 days from order submission til it was in my driveway. We're about 1/2 day from there, but I believe it still would've had a train ride.

Are you running stock height or is this a lifted/levelled/lowered truck?? There is a ride height dimension/spec that the dealer can checked and adjust if necessary.

That's a crapload of miles per year. 32,000 just for the 8 trips. Given the 20,000lb trailer, you need a 3500srw. (At 10,000 it wouldn't matter) At 3500 payload, you'd be at max payload for at or just above max payload for a 2500. 3500srw would be a good idea. (At 2500 it wouldn't matter) Significant changes to the 20 and newer trucks provided increased payloads and trailer ratings that are reflected in above numbers. I'd be looking for a 20+ 3500 Let us know what you decide!

Transmission top gear ratio also matters.....
