CREE 5W LED Back Up Lights Lights

Recommended Posts

So if I understand this correct then:

2007,2008 and 2011 take the 3157 Bulb http://www.retrosolu...456-4156/Detail

2009 and 2010 take the 921 Bulb http://www.retrosolu...-REVERSE/Detail

And whats the different in the Radial vs non-radial?

Is this correct? I want a pair!

I just installed the 3157 in my 2008 and they work. When installing they the will not snap in like the factory bulbs. You have to force the bulb in the socket because it is not the same bulb size but it works and is tight.

I also ordered a set for my 2011. The fit was OK but the metal clips that secure the lamps in the sockets did not fit over the lip of the new lamp. The fit was no looser or tighter than the OEM lamps.

I took some pictures and would post those but for whatever reason, I can not add a post via "More Reply Options".

Anyway, here is my backup lamp with the OEM lamp:

I also picked up 2 of their 'festoon' style and stashed those in the over head light. They are noticeably brighter and MUCH cooler running.

I used the 3157 bulbs in my 2008 Silverado and they snapped in nice and tight just like the factory bulbs. The only difference I noticed with the base of the bulb was the contact points were different (half as many as the stock bulb). I'm not sure if that is because the stock bulbs had both high/low output or if it is because the LEDs are polarity sensitive.

Just fyi...if you have 2009, don't assume it takes the 921 bulbs. I ordered a set, just went out to change them, and sure enough....my truck has the larger, 3047 bulbs. I really should have double checked before I ordered them! :banghead:

I'm going to get ahold of them tomorrow, to see if I can exchange them. If not, I'll make someone a good deal on a brand new set of 921's.

If I am not mistaken, 921's should be what is used in the overhead cargo/brake light. I was thinking about getting a set for there. Any way I could get you to test fit them for me, please?

I'll see what I can do, and get back to you tonight or tomorrow.

Mine are backordered too. Sucks because it did not say that when I ordered. I was hoping to get them in this week as I'll be away on business all next week. Oh well. If I don't get around to installing them till next weekend I can tell myself it's a Christmas present.

haha early birds get the worm

This is the first complete week I've had at home since probably October. Weekends have been so busy I never remembered to pull a tail light out and check the bulb- which I'm glad I did since the manual is wrong! But mine shipped out today too, should be here tomorrow or Saturday since these northeast states are all so small.
