I've used CAA coverage to get two tows this year on my wife's car. 

 

I see it as mostly paying for piece of mind, but I don't hesitate to use the benefits when they are helpful.

 

First tow was after an object crashed into the windshield and made a mess of cracks right in the driver's view.  I would have drove it, but my wife did not feel safe with it, so I had it towed.  Second time was a battery + alternator failure, that resulted in the car not running well, losing power steering, etc.

I got my windshield replaced at the GMC dealer, the original finally cracked. The owner of the dealer was there when I picked it up, he said "a cracked windshield, time to trade up!" I told him that I was only at 185k. "Definitely time to trade up!"

 

Guess he thinks that's all the longer they last, haha.

 

Windshield was $280, which I didn't think was too bad.

I guess it's different for y'all. Down here we get them replaced for free, covered by insurance. I can't recall anyone I know paying for theirs. My insurance even said they would reimburse me for the tint strip across the top.

Depends on the coverage you have up  here in MA. If you have basic - just enough to get you legal, you'll be paying out of pocket. You need Comprehensive on your policy to cover glass, which of course is more $$$ per year.

 

A windshield for my Volvo was over $200, while one for our '86 Grand Marquis was $120 installed.

This morning I rebuilt a 2004 cluster for a friend of mind won't be making any money on this one, cluster was out of a non-smokers truck and so pleasant to work on. The white plastics weren't all yellow and brittle. The light refractor was clear as glass. The needles were still bright red-orange.  Mind you there was only 211***kms on a diesel HD.  So repaired the PRND321 display, replaced all 7 stepper motors and replaced all bulbs with LEDs, blinker and even the cruise bulb. Cleaned what needed to be cleaned and re-assembled and calibrated it just to find that it didn't pass my final test. It didn't shut down after 20-25 seconds. ( Kills battery after 3 days ) This problem is usually corrosion on the back plain but this one was clean. So had to take it all apart again to work on that problem.  Wish I would have taken a picture but at the time I didn't think it could possibly be the cause. Under the microscope I found a dried out bug between 2 terminals of a surface mounted integrated circuit with 64 pins. After I removed the bug I tried the test again over and over and each time it would shut down.   Sprayed the chip with alcohol and gave it one last sweep an re-assembled for the last time. It now works flawlessly and looks pretty darn good.  He was dead set at getting a green background. Turn out good even though I don't like green but it's not my truck.

Thursday also replaced the brake light switch as my cruise control started intermittently not working. $12 and its back to working perfectly

Not preferred but if they dont offer the trailboss witht the 6.2 this is my only real option as I really like the look of the 2.

DeWalt with mid torque and XR high torque impact wrench, XR Hammer Drill, XR Impact Drivers. 1 2ah battery and 1 Flexvolt battery. 1 charger

 

Milwaukee M18 Fuel High Torque Impact wrench, Fuel Hackzall, Fuel Hammer Drill, Fuel Impact driver. 1 4ah battery, 1 5ah battery, and 1 high output 6am battery. 2 chargers

 

Milwaukee kit is $140 more.

 

I'm leaning toward the Milwaukee, better warranty and extra battery

Detailed. Tried out the new Adams tire armor. We will see how it lasts, application was pretty simple and cleaner than the tire shine.
