I have Centric metallic pads on my Cruze with Powerstop rotors. The stock ones are complete garbage on those. Vibration and no stopping power what so ever. Apparently they put ceramic pads on those too, and they are trash. The new ones I put on will rip your face off. Brake dust isn't as bad as I expected either especially for cheap pads, but they are noisy.

Vibration while braking seems to be a GM trait these days. I was trying to figure out how the Silverado's brakes were pulsating on the test drive, with 47 miles on the clock. FORTY SEVEN! Wtf ...

I couldn't get my '72 El Camino to warp it's rotors in 3,200 miles, towing a loaded, enclosed u-haul trailer the entire way with no trailer brakes. Nor could I in the 75k commuting miles that preceded, and followed that trip.

I don't know what brand rotors I have up front but the rears are Centric, paired with AC Delco Ceramic durastop pads all around. Awesome performance and practically zero brake dust, I could go a month without cleaning and the wheels are hardly dirty. And I never have any noise at all either.

Here's a random pic from last Saturday before it rained:

Nice - looks like the day it rolled off the lot! We only have that look for about 2 years up here. Winters just kill 'em. :nonod:

LOL. Yeah they get you coming and going.

Out here, a 2-year reg is $50 ... but every year you get an excise tax based on the value of the vehicle from the town. When I first bought the Silverado, my bill was almost $500 ... :noway:

NH is the same way. They may claim "tax free" but registration on my 2011 when new was almost $600. Plus $50 or so for annual inspection. Michigan has been about $150 with the parks pass which adds like $11. But of course they take something like 4.35% of my paycheck and 6% when I go to buy something with what's left after. Whatever, at least I can do pretty much whatever I want with the Jeep since there is no inspection here.

Wow i thought California boned its residents on tags. Every year they get cheaper and all pickups are registered commercial. But since 08 i havent paid more than $350.

NH gets cheaper too but since I have this bad habit of changing vehicles every few years I never see that. It'll get down to pretty cheap with older stuff.

Mass makes the bigger trucks get registered commercially I guess. A friend of mine's parents got screwed with that as they bought a Super Duty to tow their camper with and ran into some issues with a commie HOA about having a commercial vehicle in their driveway.

$780 for all 3 vehicles this year. Decrease from last year but my camaro is still over $300

Used to be in MA that ANY pickup truck HAD to register commercially ... which meant instead of what was $40 at the time for 2 years, was now $90 for ONE year. The state actually elected a Republican ( oh the humanity! ) governor for the first time in decades in the early 90's, who rolled that back, thankfully.

About a year after the '08 election, MA went crazy raising sales tax from 5% to 6.25%, auto titles from $50 to $75, and a 350% increase on trailer registration based on the trailer's GVWR ... AND a new requirement for title AND commercial inspection on anything over a certain GVWR. Right at the height of the recession too - put the screws to alot of people! Guess they figured since their buddy was in office, they could do whatever they pleased. That sent alot of us to ME for trailer registration (and NH for auto reg, for those brave enough) ... 1/10th the cost, plus no title (on trailers), or annual excise tax. State has been busy bagging the commercial guys running ME plates though, the past couple years.

This place cries poverty constantly. Every time they raise taxes and fees, they're back crying 2 months later for more! It's never enough with these jackasses! In return we get roads with 3' potholes that beat your vehicle senseless, costing untold millions in repairs across the state. They don't care, because they're getting tax revenue off the labor AND parts! The government here infuriates me. Who the hell elects these pricks??? :banghead:

Ok I feel a tiny bit better now .... :fume:

Started the hunt for a new house with a bigger shop this weekend. This single car garage in the city just isn't cutting it, so it's time to move to the country...

Went to a Renaissance Fair. Mainly because it's something I have never seen. Joists weren't that exciting. No one was knocked of. But the armor combat was something to see. They were really going after each other. Everything but stabbing.
