I am wanting to do some mods to my 96 chevy I'm not looking for anything crazy just some mild mods.

1. I want to replace the accordion style hose on the intake with a smooth pipe and delete the intake vortec silencer box and I heard there is some kind of silencer by the grille.

2. I heard that a good tune or chip can help a lot I have a k&n air filter and true dual exhaust would there be a tune that would do any good?

3.any other simple cheap mods I could do?

I don't have any specific suggestions however you can take a look in the Gas Engine Modification section. There should be some ideas there for you. What's the info on your truck? (Year/Make/Model/Miles)

It's a 1996 chevy Cheyenne regular cab short bed k1500 with a chevy 350 in it. It has 215000 miles on it but its my baby and I've already put more into it then what it's worth and I plan on keeping it

I have a k&nn in it and a fresher tune up about 4 months ago, I have heard aftermarket headers have leaking problems fairly often. I also plan on getting a black bear performance tune.

none of the basic mods such as filter, hand held tune, muffler will really give you any real power. you would have tune get a custom tune/cam/ headers etc for any noticable change.

if your trucks got 215,000 miles, that engine is going to be pretty tired... i would just save up for a new engine instead of throwing it away on mods

i dont have any exhaust leaks,i have had the headers on for about 8 months no problems with them at all, most people use the paper gaskets that come with the headers, and that is their problem. As far as the motor being tired as long as the oil pressure is good and it runs smooth. the motor is good condition still.

I don't think BBP does older than 99?

But you are way better off saving for another motor, if this one lasts a while you could have enough saved for a beast of a motor by then.

96 is the cutoff I think.

Well I would probably just get another 350 if I had to get a new motor I'm not looking for a high performance just a little better then average with ok gas mileage
