What about 305/55R20 trail grapplers on fuel maverick 20x9 with +01 offset on 2.5" RC level, has anyone seen that set up? I know the trial grapplers measurements are a little bit bigger than regular 305/55 measurements but if anyone has info or knows if those will work or rub let me know. I'm fine if it rubs on the inner fender plastic felt piece because that can always be trimmed i just don't want to rub on the sway bar or something I can't trim

Anyone had any ball joint issues with the 2.5 inch RC? I just ordered it and now I'm thinking maybe i should have gotten the 2" level instead. I do want to run 33s though, so i guess I'll stick with the 2.5

I want to do a leveling kit on my 4x2 but I definitely don't want the "offroad" look...just a nice level stance (maybe a tad lower in the front). I personally hate the stock LS2 tires on my 20s, will the factory 275/55/20 look odd once the level kit is installed? I really don't want a wider tire, but a more aggressive tread pattern that still rides smooth would be great. I wish my truck came with the Wranglers, I think that's a good looking tire...just didn't know what you guys recommended brand and size wise.

 

I would suggest a 1.5" spacer if you wanted it just a little higher but not completely level. The 275s should look fine since it's not that drastic of a change, but a 285/55 would look perfect for what you're wanting. Just a tad taller and wider. The only problem is that most tires in that size are full-blown all-terrains (Terra Grappler/Open Country, etc.) and I don't think that's what you're looking for since the Wranglers are far from that.

If you want a nice look without the large aggressive offroad or mud tires.

I have michelin 275/60R20 LTX M/S2 tires & the rough country 2" level and it looks pretty good. I think the michelin LTX A/T2 tires would look good also.

I personally would never intentionally buy goodyear wrangler tires..

Just went ahead and ordered 305/55r20 nitto trail grapplers before I can't order them for a while while Nitto is supposively moving/switching factories. they measure 33.39x12.60" if anyone knows what size offset on 20x9 and 20x10 rims would fit let me know. Preferably something that has a little bit of a lip on the rim would be better

You're gonna rub regardless. Probably best to stick around a zero offset it you want minor trimming. JMO

Thanks. Those like nice. How is the ride vs the stock tires you had on?? I know michelins are the best but the sidewall went up 1". Does it feel more heavier or drive any differently?

It feels better than the Goodyear SRA 275/55R20's thats for sure, more tire between the wheel and the ground is always better. I wish I would have got 18" wheels when I bought the truck. I"m not really a fan of the 20" wheels. If you want a slightly more aggressive look get the michelin LTX A/T2, they are great tires also.

You are going to need to stick as close to 0 offset as you can. Mine are a +1 with 33's and no real rub.

I am new to owning a truck, so can someone shed some light on the ball-bearing problem with installing a leveling kit? I hate that the front end dips down, and have been looking into installing one, but want to know what I'm getting into before I dive in.

The problem is when you put too much of a levelling kit in the front, the angle of the suspension is altered enough to wear out the balljoints prematurely… If you stay under 2.5" (I think 2" is enough) you should be ok…

Thanks for the info - I was planning on going with the 2" kit

    • Hey guys, sorry for the confusison about this. This wasn't my experainnce, it was copied and pasted fom the net. 
    • The problem with failure rates or increase failures are there’s people who don’t have a problem. What are you doing wrong they say. We had 4 5.7 GM diesel’s in the family when they came out. One was flawless. My uncle who happened to be the most abusive. Early rotary engines were known to use oil. I abused my first car so bad in six months I replaced the clutch, transmission and rear end. It didn’t use oil. My brother in law has a 2013 Tahoe and an older Yukon. The Yukon has 280K miles. The Tahoe around 175K. He runs them to about 300K. If his lifters fail before that time he would consider it a failure. My Hondas, I know people hate it when I mention them. Identical engines. One with cylinder deactivation one doesn’t have it. One shudders when the eco light goes on or off. Cylinder deactivation. But wait! According to the web. It can happen with lock up too. So now people in the know are changing the oil and transmission fluid more often. Then you read it could be a programing issue. So what do you do? There’s lots of money involved. I see three ways to deal with it. One only works if you don’t drive lots of miles. Lease, never get out of warranty. Or only buy older vehicles with a good track record. They all have bad runs. Usually when there’s a change. Even Toyota and Honda. 
    • Question @diyer2 on this line if you please. Are you saying the shudder is the system turning on and off at the frequency of the shudder? Guess I'm asking if you are saying you have seen it do this with the bi-direction scan tool in graph mode? If so have you been able to discern the 'trigger'. Something is telling to cycle rapidly.    My truck just started doing this recently. 197K on the clock. My response has been M5 anything under 55 mph. I treat it like a lugging stick shift. Gear down and let it spin a bit. Engauge M5, then tow mode and then M6 lets the trans stay in 5th but the AFM is active. Smooth like Skippy.    My thought was that as a machine ages the friction gets lower and as the system is load based, the lower friction would allow it to turn on at ever lower rpm until it reaches the lugging point. And yes I am ignorant of any minimum rpm requirement for the system. If you know that would be useful information.    As you know I run a Scan-Gauge II which allows me to watch the On/Off of the signal to the VLOM. While in the shudder mode I'm not seeing is cycle at that frequency or at all for that matter outside the triggers @newdude posted a few years back. Now is it possible that the refresh rate isn't fast enough to catch it? Maybe. It is why I asked my first question about graphing and trigging parameter.     As we have observed from members here the failure point is all over the map miles wise as you note yourself in your opening post. That by itself begs a few questions like fellows that comment on these lifters failing even after the system has been disabled.     • UPDATE 2: Steering wheel control backlights and control of the cluster can supposedly be achieved by adding a wire to pin 20 of the cluster and tapping it to pin 2 of the main clock spring harness. I'm going to give it a shot - will update  
    • GM Global A pickups 2019-2022 can do OTA programming for the radio.  GM VIP (GM Global B) can do OTAs for almost every module on board.  So a 2022.5 and newer pickup can do OTAs for recalls like the 2.7 fuel flow recall.  EVs get OTAs that improve one pedal driving, radio issues, HVAC issues, updated battery management software, etc.     So age of the vehicle/what GM electrical platform its on will alter what amount of updates can be pushed on OTAs.
