I've read through this thread and I am left with a few specific questions regarding my 2018 Z71 (stamped steel UCA's).

  1. If I go with the TGC 2" leveling kit, do I still need to swap out my UCA's?  (my backup plan is the 2.25 Readylift kit with UCA's)
  2. Assuming the TGC 2" kit is "safe" for my 2018 stamped steel UCA's, can I fit 285/65/r18 BFG KO2's on my stock wheels without any rubbing (I have seen several different opinions about this setup).  I'm hoping that the narrow section width BFG's will not rub my UCA's or sway bar.  I'm aware that I'll have to tie back the felt, etc.
  3. What size KO2 will fit on my bone stock truck if I tie back the felt and decide to leave the suspension alone?

this site let alone this thread there is a lot to read...I have '16 Z71, BFG KO2 285/65 R18 (stock rims) and a RC 2" level, no trimming or tie backs were needed and no rubbing...I eventually got a new bumper, and only then did i need to do any sort of wheel well modification...but it was because the felt stuck out, not because the tires...I dont have any experience with a TC level, but would be safe to assume it would be equivalent to the RC.

I usually don’t mess with the level or lifting. My 14 had too much rake. I removed the blocks in the back. It amounted to about 1-1/2 inch.

I have a level kit on my 14, my current summer wheels are 18x9 +12 mm. I'm looking to get 18x9 -12 mm so I can get a 4.5" lift installed. All the results on custom offsets says it'll fit with minimal to no trimming and no rubbing. 

 

Anyone else running -12 mm?

Yep im running 18x9 -12 with 305/65r18 on a 2.5 inche level. Imo its the perfect amount of poke. I did the zone trim plates for trimming. Sorry for the bad pic 4feb0cf5ff35b9f7daccb1278adf94ae.jpg

Zone will increase your track width 1.5" in the front so take that into consideration. Ive had zone on my last 2 trucks. Great products

Was curious if someone could point me in the direction of some 1.5 inch rear blocks that are not tapered. Would like a pinch of rake after the level 
I put 2.5" traxda flat blocks in the rear of my truck.
No issues 20k on it

Have read a good bit of this thread but its massive. Seeing if i can get some advice. Have a 2017 Sierra SLT with a 2.25" level kit in the front only. Am looking at getting BFG KO2s put on next week. Keep goin back and forth between 275/60/20 and 275/65/20. I keep reading different tires will fit and won't fit. Also the stamped upper control arm issue. The shop that put the leveling kit said they will just put a steering top on when i get the tires. Is that a decent fix or solution to the rubbing issue? What size tires would y'all that have done it recommend? From what i can gather the 17s won't clear as big a tire as the 14 and 15s. Also any advice between ko2 and toyo at2? Any help would be great

No, it’ll widen your turning radius all for a level. You’re pretty much stuck with stock 275/55/20’s (32”) unless you don’t mind the loud and nasty rubbing on the uca’s you’ll have to switch wheels for a different offset to like a +1 offset and then you can go to 285/60/20’s (33” +). It happened to me but I had to learn as I went.

 

Here’s mine when it was leveled 2.25” up front with an added 1” rear block to the stock block, still got a bit of rub but only on the wheel well liner which a heat gun can remedy that.

New to the forum. Was able to pick some good information up scanning through threads. Installed 2" motofab level the other night. Just put in a couple husky liners in the front. Also debadged the doors to accommodate the logo with an eraser wheel. Just bought this truck at the beginning of the year, coming over from the Cummins Forum.

    • No such thing as regenerative braking on a pure ICE vehicle.     Regenerative braking is the re-capture of energy from electric motors and stores it in the battery pack.  So hybrids, PHEV and EVs have regenerative braking.     What you are seeing is the charging system changing modes is all.  Its likely entering charge mode for some sort of reason is all.  All of the charging modes will be listed below.   As for L10 vs D.  L10 turns off automatic grade braking.  L10 puts you in control of grade downshifts where in D it will automatically do it based on brake pedal position and other factors.  Otherwise L10 and D drive exactly the same aside from that one aspect.    Battery Sulfation Mode The BCM will enter this mode when the interpreted Generator output voltage is less than 13.2 V for 45 minutes. When this condition exists the BCM will enter Charge Mode for 2–3 minutes. The BCM will then determine which mode to enter depending on voltage requirements.   Charge Mode The BCM will enter Charge Mode when ever one of the following conditions are met:   Windshield wipers are ON for more than 3 s. Climate Control Voltage Boost Mode Request is true, as sensed by the HVAC control module via serial data. High speed cooling fan, rear defogger, and HVAC high speed blower operation can cause the BCM to enter the Charge Mode. The estimated battery temperature is less than 0°C (32°F). Battery State of Charge is less than 80%. Vehicle speed is greater than 145 km/h (90 mph) A current sensor malfunction exists. System voltage is determined to be below 12.56 V When any one of these conditions is met, the system will set targeted generator output voltage to a charging voltage between 13.9–15.5 V, depending on the battery state of charge and estimated battery temperature.   Fuel Economy Mode The BCM will enter Fuel Economy Mode when the estimated battery temperature is at least 0°C (32°F) but less than or equal to 80°C (176°F), the calculated battery current is less than 15 A and greater than −8 A, and the battery state-of-charge is greater than or equal to 80%. Its targeted generator output voltage is the open circuit voltage of the battery and can be between 12.5–13.1 V. When fuel economy mode is active, the generator is not charging, only maintaining open circuit battery voltage. The BCM will exit this mode and enter Charge Mode when any of the conditions described above are present.   Headlamp Mode The BCM will enter Headlamp Mode when ever the head lamps are ON (high or low beams). Voltage will be regulated between 13.9–14.5 V.   Start Up Mode When the engine is started the BCM sets a targeted generator output voltage of 14.5 V for 30 s.   Tow/Haul Mode (if applicable) Pressing the Tow/Haul Mode button located on the center stack, the vehicle system voltage is raised and the remote (non-vehicle) battery will be charged. Having the headlamps on will raise the system voltage and if the Tow/Haul button is applied it will not serve any purpose. The voltage is regulated between 13.9-14.5 V.      
    • Hello from Australia Just sharing that there is now a way to delete the active shutters entirely with just a plug in module. Opens up tons of room to light bars etc.
    • I have an observation and a question... 1) I watch the voltage closely because I have had to dial in the cut-in/cut-out voltages of the battery separator to my camper.  The "smart" charging drives me nuts.  Anyway, I noticed that when coasting for a while, and especially if lightly using the brakes (though not necessary), the voltage goes up from mid/high-13 volts to mid/high-14 volts.  Then it drops back down after stopping or going again.  Consistently!   The only explanation I can come up with is REGENERATIVE BRAKING!  Well, maybe that's a little bit of an exaggeration, but it's certainly free extra battery charging.   2) Driving on mountain roads I will use L and vary the max gear.  Things straighten out and I end up in L10.  Sometimes I leave it there for a while.  Is there any difference between L10 and D?   
    • Do you think this width might affect the chalk test with a higher pressure closer to 65psi? I think lowering the pressure makes sense to get the tread to lay flatter
