2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

I just bought my Magnaflow 11229. Should have it Wednesday and as soon as I get the chance I'll have it put on and report back. I'm for sure going to cut the resonator, and flapper. I might cut the 3rd cat out too. Depends on how much crap the guy gives me.

I just ordered the Magnaflow cat back exhaust part# 15318 for the 6.2L this is the single 3.5 inch side exit. I installed a Volant CIA over the weekend and their is allot more noise coming from the engine compartment so I am hoping the Magnaflow exhaust will even the sound out. I had the Volant CAI on my 2009 6.2L Sierra and it was not as loud as the 2014 sounds, but you could actually hear the exhaust on my 2009 the 2014 exhaust is silent. I will post the results after the install.

Just talked to Corsa and the new exhaust should be ready at the end of April and will be 3.5 inches and possibly 3rd cat delete. I've had my truck for a week and have put 500 miles on it through highway and farm land. This exhaust I am highly disappointed in it. My 2010 Denali had alot nicer rumble stock. 3 cats and a muffler and silencer is a little much on a exhaust system.

I ordered the Magnaflow 3.5 in. single exit part# 15318 it will be available 3/28 if you want something sooner. I agree my 09 Sierra w/ 6.2L sounded great stock.

Went with the magnaflow and I couldn't be happier!!! It sounds bad ass!!! I'll take a video later. Very very small around of drone!!

Which Magnaflow exhaust did you go with?

Well after looking around the net for the last few weeks and talking to different people I decided to pull the trigger on the Borla cat-back system part #140537. It is the dual rear exit with the ATAK muffler. I was on the fence between this and the Corsa cat-back but decided to go this route to have a more aggressive exhaust tone.

 

Edit: Had to cancel my order this afternoon since they decided to push back the ship date from 3-21 to 4-25 in less than 12 hours.

I just ordered the flowmaster cat back system with the 50 series muffler. My buddy just placed a 50 series on his 2012 avalanche and removed the resonator. After hearing his I was pretty happy with the sound. It has a nice rumble on the outside and on the inside. It is a nice deep clean sound with no popping or raspiness you get with some straight threw mufflers. When it is in 4 cyl mode it gets slightly louder. When you give it some gas in 4cyl mode it almost gets to the point it wants to drone but then shifts into 8 cyl mode. So the mount of gas it takes to make the 50 series drone in 4 cyl mode will make the truck shift out. Will update how it turns out on my 2014 Sierra.

About $500 and yes the piping is aluminized. I also went with the 18" think the cat back is 22". I'm not independently weathy, so $500+ in my pocket is a big win in my book.

I read all your posts and I want to the same thing, MagnaFlow 18" one in / two out for the 5.3. I read that you removed the flapper valve and the resonator. Did they also remove the 3rd Cat way in the back? Was that put back on? Your sound is perfect!

Are you referring to the resonator way in the back? the 3rd cat is just after the Y-pipe and before the Muffler.

Yes, it can be removed without having any negative effect unless you live in CA, Its my understand that the 3rd CAT makes our vehicles California Compliant, which God knows that I want nothing more than to be California CARB compliant! Hell, I'm from Oklahoma, half of us would be just fine with straight pipes sticking straight up out of the hood.

Today I was at my GMC dealership and listened to a 2014 5.3L with the Magnaflow catback exhaust duals out the back, it sounds awesome so I'm hoping the Magnaflow exhaust I have on order for my 6.2L sounds just as good or better. The 5.3 system had no resonator the one I'm getting does have a resonator.
