2014+ Exhaust Systems & Mufflers

Recommended Posts

My 2 cents about Borla is theyr are too expensive, my neighbor swears by them but he has tastes that are too expensive for his wallet.

I can't say much at all that you wouldn't learn from a video on the internet about most exhausts. BUT I can speak for the Magnaflow 18" muffler cat back dual out the rear system.

I got the Magnaflow 18" muffler on mine. I love it. Nice deep rumble at start up. Other users have complained of drone but I can honestly say I haven't noticed any. You can however notice a small difference in the rumble tone when the truck switches from V8 to V4 but IMO, I like the sound change. Driving around town earlier I noticed it almost sounds like an old hotrod in a way. Not saying it sounds just like one. But the change in sound isn't bad IMO. If I were to do it over again, would I get the same system? Yes! Never had an exhaust on my vehicles before, but it'll be my first mod from now on haha. I think it gives these, as some of my friends have said, 'mean a$$ looking trucks a bad a$$ sound'. Also I haven't tuned mine. And I won't. I drive on the highway a lot. I got this truck for a few reasons: it looks awesome, I'm a GM guy, these trucks stay classy while still being a work truck, and I wanted to keep my V8 but still keep my trips to the pump down.

IMO, I don't think anyone could be disappointed by the Magnaflow system. It's not irritate your neighbors loud, but it's also not stock quiet.

Corsa is what I swear by. They have a unique, proprietary muffler design that allows for a very, very aggressive exhaust sound without any drone. The muffler is more of a straight pipe with expansion/dampening chambers cut into the OD. It allows them to specifically tune out the frequencies that result in drone, while preserving a loud, aggressive sound if thats what you like.

I'm currently running the worst case scenario with my 2010 Silverado; Corsa Sport with American Racing Long Tube headers, and while the truck is offensively loud from the outside, it's absolutely quiet when cruising on the highway.

The Corsa systems also have fantastic quality. I've installed them myself on my last 3 silverados, my Z06 and previously my Cherokee SRT8 and have always been very impressed with the construction and materials.

In my 07 Vmax, I am running a similar set up (Tri Y headers and Touring), but I have the Touring and I am very thankful for that. What is awesome about the Corsa touring is it still is pretty quiet while under light throttle and it sounds wicked under heavy throttle, especially now that I have the Maggie installed. Corsa is just worth the price, IMHO.

This is what the Corsa Sport sounds like with the headers, haha, I love it. Surprisingly, that thing is absolutely quiet when on the highway. It definitely has a nice roar when you get on the gas, but no drone, even in V4 mode. I'd take some interior videos, but I put the truck away from the winter as the regular cab is my project vehicle and I don't want to deal with road salt, rock chips, etc.

When I upgrade my 2009 to a 2014/2015 Sierra, I definitely plan on doing the same Corsa Sport + Headers combination.

Oh GAWD.... that's why everybody has drone because we all use 40 series flowmasters. How can you deny this sound- 50 series Delta Flow's. Here is my impala, 3" duals dumped just behind rear tires, long tube headers, no cats, 0 Drone and the car runs a 10.90's on a good day weighing in at 4400 lbs. The video is bad, but you can hear it. Enjoy!

Oh yeah... it has made 2 full HotRod Power Tours also.

I was going to get a Corsa System but I think I'm going to save that money until I figure out how I'm going to build the truck. For now, I'm going to go get a flow master muffler with custom tail pipe. I will give feedback when I do. I should have it on by this weekend.

I know that Flowmaster gets a bad name because of drone, but that's because everybody puts 40 series mufflers on. If you watch the video of my 96 Impala below, I think you will see why I'm partial. These are 50 series Delta Flows, 3" from headers to tailpipe with an X-Pipe just after the headers. 0-Drone... I mean NONE-NADA! The car is no slouch... Listen & Enjoy

P.S. - Don't hate on my Helmet, I raced Motocross all my life and that's how I roll, LOL

You'll still have drone with the 50 Delta. It's still a chambered muffler. It may not be as bad as a 40 but it will still have some. The only mufflers with zero drone are straight thru designs.

I can see the v4 exaggerating the drone in a flowmaster but my car has none... It must be the Flowmaster Unicorn

I'm referring when the truck goes into v4 mode, you'll have some drone. Your car is a different story man.

Ok, I'm smelling what you are stepping in now. I got a good friend here that has an exhaust shop so it won't be to awful expensive to try it out and I got V4 off in town but I'll see how bad it is on highway.

Drone occurs when the engine drops down to 4 cyl from 8. I could be wrong but your impala doesn;t do that, does it? I've been in a truck with bad drone before...it's extremely annoying, and hurts your ears...you "feel" the vibrations in your ear canals, neck, etc. It's enough to make me sick...and I've read about others who have turned around, went back to the shop and had the whole system ripped out because of it. I can deal with obnoxiously loud exhaust...but drone, no way! Anyway, just my opinion on that.
