Ya I looked at the 305s also. I went with the extremes but in the 295 size.

I was under the impression that the extreme tread only came in 305+. It seems as if I'm mistaken. Any chance you'd want to post or PM me some pics of your truck with the tires?

EDIT: Probably PM if you can. Don't want to jack this thread.

I know I asked this once, but trying once more... can anyone comment on the sound level of the Corsa Sport vs, say a Flowmaster 40?

Just a 22" magnaflow, should be here Tuesday. Hopefully will have it on by Wednesday.

Hey guys. I am looking into a Flowmaster 40 single in/dual out and I am not understanding what everyone is really talking about with the "drone".
I had the previous body style Silverado with the same exhaust on it and yes, I could hear it at highway speed. But I loved it. Made it sound like a truck.

Does this new body style have some other kind of drone that the previous body style didn't have?

Kerrslight, I think the angle on the tip looks good. I'm thinking of getting the same muffler for my ride. 2015 Silverado 1500 5.3.

Wideopen the duals looks awesome too!

The drone is when the engine goes into V4 mode which is AFM (Active Fuel Management). It sounds like an 18 wheeler's exhaust brake/jake brake. So it sounds different while in V4 mode and that sound is the drone. It doesn't bother me but some hate it. The flapper valve behind the muffler in the stock system is what helps that.

Just installed the Dynomax VT catback. I'm very happy with the fit and finish. The sound is nice and throaty when you start it up and quiets just enough when it idles down. It sounds good when you get on it and is quiet at cruise. I can only barely detect the V4 mode and it's not unpleasant at all when it switches back and forth.

Thanks man. I actually ended up having the mufflers switched out today. 18" sounded great, but it turns out the 14" is what I was really after. Pretty much same result, but the 14 has a little bit more noise to it. Sounds great when your on the gas and almost non-existent while cruising.

I mean it doesn't turn into a rice burner sound when it hits v4 does it?!

hahaha

Maybe i'll just need to look for some video samples.

No it's not that thank God. I'm sure you've heard an exhaust brake on an 18 wheeler or other commercial truck going down a hill or mountain. That's what it sounds like. Some people say it sounds like a helicopter but I think it sounds like an exhaust brake.

Look up diesel exhaust brake on Youtube or more specific just silverado exhaust drone.

Oh ok. Yeah I understand what you're talking about too.

The inside of these cabs is so quiet that idk that I am really too worried about it.

And yes, thank the good Lord that they don't sound like a 4 banger with a coffee can!

Sounds like you are being chased by a Blackhawk chopper. Just drive in M5 and this will keep it in V8 mode. But when you have to click up to 6th or are in D....IDK? some like it, some do not. You didn't say if your last truck had AFM or not.

I thought my last truck did have it, but i didn't have a read out in the dash to say. So i'm not sure and i bought it slightly used so idk.

I checked some sample videos and i dont know that it will bother me too much, might be fun to think i'm getting chased by a blackhawk haha

    • Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving
    • Yes, and only a couple years before delivery. 🙄
    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
