this is so much more my style the NA set up, as much as I love forced induction and the power, too much moving parts and room for eroor, a nice cam, good tune and some bolt ons what exactly does that truck have done to it to make 400whp?

According to the youtube description its a custom mild cam, headers, intake and exhaust. He doesn't specify but I think it might of been on e85. If you check out his facebook page he does quite a few new 5.3's.

And that package will set you bak around $2,500. Its a custom grind cam, springs, headers, and a tune. Which is not ALL that bad taking all things into consideration. What impressed me the most if how he moved the powerband all the way up to 6,000 rpm. By all means this still looks like a very drive able, setup you could use for towing.

Hello,

Is anyone running this Magnaflow 15267 system? Is it much louder than stock?

From reading the description it uses a 22" Muffler. While its a full catback replacement it still only uses a 3" pipe, so this will be just like stock. From various members on here who have used the 22" Magnaflow muffler they all say it sounds just like stock but just a tad bit louder.

Yeah that's what it sounds like.. I'm also debating the Magnaflow 18" muffler with duals but then people on here are saying its too loud. There's no happy medium!

The exhaust answer from heaven is an electric cut out! It's great! I got one this past weekend and will forever have one on any vehicle I own from now on. If you want the exhaust to be louder, open the cutout and let the engine purr, if you want it to be quiet, simply close the cut out. Takes 3 seconds to fully open or fully close the cut out and all you have to do is press a momentary switch for up to 3 seconds. You can open it as much as you want

On the same note, I have an 18" magnaflow and I don't think it's too loud, it's the single in dual out. Sounds great, but sometimes it's not enough, so that's why I got the cut out.

I don't know who told you the 18" is too loud but they were lying. I have an 18" single in, single out and for me its perfect. Not too loud, but not too quiet. Luster has a 14" that he daily drives and sounds great, which I don't even think thats "too loud" either.

Maybe it's not the loudness I'm worried about its the V4 helicopter

When are we getting the sound clip comparing the two? Anxiously waiting! haha

Here's the best sound clip I've been able to get so far. I was on interstate going 80, then punched it just to rev the engine for a few seconds. First time it's with the cut out closed (so you are hearing the 18" magnaflow dual exit under the rear bumper, 5.3 V8. Windows closed, then the second rev is with the cutout open. Use headphones for best representation. I had the volume at 3 notches below max and it was the closest I could get to reality, by reality sounds much deeper and throatier for cut out open.)

Hopefully at the end of the semester I will get a go pro, if I do then I'll use it to try to get a better sound clip.

Sounds pretty good! Starting to think I might go the same route. I ordered my magnaflow muffler today, still been debating on a cutout for a while. Would love to hear an exterior sound clip of both at some point if you get a chance. Thanks for the vid

No problem. And it sounds great on the outside. I'm trying to find a good place where I can have a friend hold my phone outside the cab and I can get a good drive by and accelerate from a dead stop comparing the 2

I tried getting one in the cab and didn't accurate depict it. Will try again as soon as I can

Delete the resonator = louder exhaust

Delete the flapper = drone in v4 mode

Delete the resonator + keep the flapper = louder exhaust with little v4 drone

Keep the resonator + keep the flapper = milder exhaust and no v4 drone - mostly hear exhaust when in v8 mode

Delete the resonator + delete the flapper = get to the choppa!

If this is the case, why do most people delete the flapper? Does deleting the flapper make the overall exhaust louder?

It does, especially during startup and idle. However, the side effect is that it will "helicopter"/drone during v4

Ok. Well definitely getting rid of it then! Haha. I plan to get a tune at some point down the road so AFM won't be here for long. From what I've heard/read, the V4 drone with the 18" isn't too bad. I had a Flowmaster Super 44 with turndowns from the muffler and that V4 drone was AWFUL! This shouldn't be anywhere near that. My Muffler should be here tomorrow. Getting super stoked to have it put on
