That’s damn impressive but I think 55mph pisses everybody else on the highway... lol. 55mph seems to be the sweet spot though.

So what? I drive speed limit everywhere I go. I think it’s entertaining to see all the people behind me squirming from impatience. Lol.

As long as you don’t cruise the speed limit in the far left lane, it’s fine with me! Lol. Otherwise everyone hates you.

Lol. I’m a trucker. I’m used to everyone hating me. But no, I don’t hog the left lane if I can help it. Except through Joliet on I-80. Too many potholes in the right lane.

So after reading through, I decided to go with an AEM DryFlow drop in. All I have noticed so far is loss in fuel economy. Only ran about a tank and a half of gas, does it need to run longer to reset or should I do something different? Wasn’t looking for any huge performance increase or sound, just wanted a decent drop in. Anyone have any thoughts? Also, should I be running mid or premium vs regular?

Does the airaid MIT add any drone?

If I go CAI, I want to stay with a dry filter.  What CAI kits are recommended?

Made a custom 4” tube to mate up with my l86 throttle body and manifold swap. No pcv ports on it since I have mine vented to atmosphere. Also we do powder coating at my work and had mine done in wrinkle black. 72568ddc7cbc329804c8e1ee1b9ef514.jpg

they all have a hum or drone, because your removing the resonator wich is what keeps it quiet..

I ilike the sound, and find the Airaid pipe works great and all the pcv lines fit into it..  one trick no one really does is remove the airbox restrictor panel, this increases airflow , but to be honest , unless your running a cam with ported heads, you will not make any more power than stock set up.  use the stock paper airfilter it works great, aftermarket filters are shit and probably made in china

It's not quite a "drone" really. It is louder, but not a drone. Sounds nice. Try and ride in someone truck, or even car, with it installed. Unlike an exhaust drone, the added noise will not hurt your head. After years of being married, I've become very sensitive to noise. CAIs provide pleasant notes.

Had a full K&N CAI for maybe 2 months max. I’m not a fan so went back to stock. Waste of money in my opinion. Up for sale

I was getting worse gas mileage

response was horrible almost like waiting for a turbo to kick in

noise was annoying to me.

Today i installed  the Airaid MIT and K&N filter -kept the stock air box

Test drove after - no annoying “kick in noise” and the response is so much better.

200.00 total compared to 300 on the CAI kit.

The reason for the issue you are describing is caused by altering the MAF housing in any way from factory which the k&n cai does. It requires a tune. Even the airaid will benefit from a tune but since the factory MAF housing is still being used, the tune won’t need adjustment.

I cannot find any review on the GM drop in filter 84520923 other than it is outrageously expensive. Ok to assume that GM is just pricing because they can, and there are no tangible benefits to this drop in filter? My understanding it is disposable under regular intervals, not washable or extended run? Has anyone tried to measure this filter. I am very curious in OEM accy's as my prior experience with GMC dealers was abysmal to say the least and that if you do not want to take CAI and filters off the truck every time for service, you choice is to pay GM prices while truck is in warranty. 10% increase at 99.5% efficiency is easily beat by almost any other aftermarket intakes and filters. I have searched but cannot locate good analysis on this filter.

Thanks for pointers!

The Dyno results are very good with the stock OEM Airbox with a K&N drop-in filter and the Airaid MIT.
