Not unless you have rear seat entertainment package.  I can now play DVDs and Blu-Rays on the dash screen while truck is in motion.  Wife and kid are set now on road trips.

So if the truck is in park it will play dvds? I remember on the gmt 900's there was a much cheaper alternative to fooling the nav unit into thinking it was in park and would play dvds. It was around $200 iirc.

It will play in any gearshift position.

 

Nothing that cheap anymore for video with the new generation trucks - at least on the 2017s.  Have to get programmed HMI, new programmed screen assembly, and DVD player.  Plus all the harnesses.

 

Read up on his site.  If you have a pre-2017, you have cheaper options for video.

You can get the unlock for your 8” factory unit and play movies from a flash drive while in motion. The dvd Blu-ray option sounds good but expensive. I have music videos and stuff for the kids on a couple of memory sticks. Again not great resolution but still very convenient and fun.

2017s won't play video from flash drives without add-on module and programming from MVI.  I opted for the Blu-ray option because I did not want to have to install an aftermarket USB port.  I wanted to keep the truck stock-looking.

Oh yea, I forgot about that, bummer. I agree with keeping it factory looking too. I was looking at the alpine redesign stereo, I think it does dvds not sure about Blu-ray.It’s at $1299, but I can’t afford it just yet.

Got my Elite E2-X catch can installed today. Used braided black hose and ordered some OEM PCV tubes that I took the ends off of to put the OEM clip ends on the braided hose.

Thanks. Truck only has 16,000 mi on it and was pretty clean to start with, but I did run some CRC GDI cleaner through it before my can install.

2016s play video from USB just fine.  If you want video-in-motion however, you'll need help from MVI (www.gm-navigation.com).

This is where I bought them. Not the only place to get them obviously. Cheapest place I found though. Changed them out because my driver side tail got busted somehow. Kid? Mall parking lot? Who knows. Inside the horseshoe are 6 leds top and bottom for brake and turn. Reverse light is still the stock bulb. Comes with the needed resistors, basically plug and play.
