Not finish with all the final routing, need to make it cleaner. Will probably also move the fuse that's hanging onto the back firewall. Just used the previous spot I had my fuse for my amp mounted.

God where were you when I did the dual battery and under hood lights on my truck last year 🤣 looks great though, well done, I didn’t go as in depth with my wiring as I wanted to isolate the two systems for off-road equipment and leave the starting battery alone. I’ll have to get back on here and post. I haven’t updated anything on the forum in at least a year.

😅 I've been hanging around the other 'Add Dual Battery' thread for like 2  years collecting parts and they just sat around. I installed my battery tray 2yrs ago hoping that would get me going, but nope.. 😂

 

With the isolator, I can now move all my add-ons to the aux battery and leave the main battery alone. I like that it disconnects the main battery when it reaches 12.8v.   I had a battery maintainer cable on the main battery, but per the isolator diagram, it shows it on the aux battery, so did it that way and it ends up charging both batteries.

I might be trading this truck in within the next few days, nothings guaranteed but I do have money holding a new truck. I am not sure how I feel about giving this thing up, it was my first truck, and it has served me well. If I do part with it, I only hope the next owner treats it as well as I have.

Let my 98 C/K stay at home today because the weather is almost 60 degrees here in Iowa.   Drove the 18 Denali to work and it turned over to 44k today! Man I love the power of the this thing, (compared to my 1998 5.7L 255 HP monster!!!) Also, with it being tuned, I love how it doesn't go in and out of 4 cylinder mode.

Just finished the 1st of 2 radio relocation pieces. For the 2014 and 18 sierra. Will be working on the Ipad dash piece in a month or so. I have to finish the second radio piece first. Then change some wiring.

Look's Good It's a 23 , How many miles on it . KEEP IT , Cheaper then New one. UNLESS you what a New ONE.

just changed the tank fuel pump  and it was giving me p0172and p0175 codes  find out the high-pressure pump is leaking so change that all good for now

It's been a while! Haven't really done too much, but my truck definitely is getting pampered this week (while my wallet is not). With the snow and salt hopefully gone for the season, I crossed a couple items off my bucket list:

  • Reapplied Krown to a couple of spots that needed attention on the frame and opened up the plugs and re-sprayed the inside of the rockers just to be safe.
  • Got brand new OEM 6" black rectangular steps and I am in LOVE with them. I had some Steelcraft 4X Series nerf bars before and while I did like them, 4+ years in Michigan finally took a toll on them. I plan to refinish them and sell them
  • Paint correction and waxing coming this weekend! 🙂

I replaced the thermostat in the 2014 Sierra 

And charged up the battery in the 2018 Sierra.

      Monthly payment is only part of the equation. With today's prices and interest rates, I'd look at the total monthly cost: payment, insurance, registration, fuel, maintenance, and expected repairs. A vehicle that fits comfortably into your budget is usually the better choice than stretching for a higher trim. I've also kept my vehicles longer over the past few years. New cars have gotten expensive enough that driving one for 10+ years, while staying on top of maintenance, often ends up being the most cost-effective approach.

      Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.

      apparently CA smog is (or at least was)  checking that the vehicle is using the oem and/or a ca smog approved tune, so I expect you'll fail inspection doing it.

      yes, leaking exhaust will mess up o2 sensor readings, which in turn messes up fuel trims.
