What have you done to your K2 today?

Recommended Posts

The first day I removed the air damn a buddy at work and he pointed out two tabs are visible from the side almost imminently. I did mean the smaller chrome piece by the tow hooks. It's not terrible, one 7mm bolt on the top was tough, but I just can't get the tabs on the top to clip in. I'm going to try this week when I get my Morimoto fog lights with the bumper removed.

I was hoping no one would notice and so far so good. Is that the one piece black led fog lights? Eyeing those myself.

Just so you know, the bumper doesn't have to be taken all the way off to swap the fogs out. Just takes about 10 bolts on each side and the fog bracket comes out.

I figured I would also try and install the front chrome lower skid plate. I didn't have any luck getting the new one to clip in.

Car washes (touchless) do not seem to hurt the Plasti Dip. I have been through numerous, heavy rain, etc. and it has held up awesome on my truck. I did at least 6 coats, lightly applied, to built it up. Don't just cake it on in one thick spray. I wash my truck by hand and a wash mitt doesn't hurt it either. I'm sure if you took a rough brush to it, over time, it would come off though.

I took my time in prepping, but that being said, you can spray plasti dip all over your door and it'll peel off easily (unlike paint). I just found doing a good job on taping off my bowtie on the front and rear made things easiest. The emblems on the door I did too (before completely removing them) and you can't tape in as fine detail as you can with the bowties. Just tape off what you can, apply all your coats (6-8 IMO), and let it dry. Once it dries just take your time peeling it off, and the edges of the lettering will cut it cleanly. You can use a toothpick to get into the tiny awkward grooves to get you started as well.

Left work a little early and got it done last night. It took me a lot longer because I was fighting with that lower chrome skid plate. Even after removed the 10 7mm bolts I couldnt get it to completly clip in, GRRR.

The fogs went easy, just lots of bolts, but all easy to access.

Post some pics when you get them on. Curious to see how they look.
