Installed 3" blocks in the rear in place of the factory blocks. I like a leveled stance like I had with the Bilsteins but I tow quite a bit and haul some heavy loads and I was tired if the rear end sag. Had over 1600# of redi- mix and a couple hundred of misc. several loads last week and she was squatting a bit.

Now the rears a little high but soon I'm installing a half inch spacer on the top of the bilstiens. After that I hope I feel it's enough because the wife will never go for a real lift kit lol. Crap now I gotta get more drop for the hitch and trailer. 509bb39af93c129b7681ac88344d911a.jpg

Just finished adding Escalade - Illuminated Door Handles. Made a "How-To" video for it. Took me about 6 hours but mainly due to recording the video.

Looks good! What is the wheel tire specs ? I tried installing some 2" spacers with my 275/65/20s and stock wheels and it just wasn't happening, did some light trimming but to make it clear I would've had to cut way more off than I wanted to

figured out my issue with the Thinkware F770. The ignition wire was hooked up to a timed circuit, so, that is why it would go back into parked mode.

New front bumper installed with the help of my 12 year old son. Had it pre-wrapped with clear last week, now to get it ceramic coated like the rest of the entire truck next week...

Looks nice like that! I may go that route. I bought the 1 1/2 Bora spacers not realizing I'd need to trim the studs for my wheels. Did that on the 2011 but not doing on the 2015. I'd rather get some nice black and milled 18" x 9 wheels with around a -6 offset.

Finally found a product to protect the front of the truck without breaking the bank. I've been exploring options to protect against paint chips from rocks and debris and finally came across one that is affordable and looks nice. I've never been a big fan of the smoked or clear bug shields that a lot of vehicles have so that was personally not an option for me and then to have the front end clear wrapped with the 3M product or similar was too expemsive so once I found this i was pretty excited. It's a color matched AVS Aeroskin bug shield, I'm really happy with it because it just sticks on with adhesive tape and follows all the trucks original lines. It doesn't look weird like the smoked or clear shields and it only cost just over $100. The color match is spot on too! I have the black version on my 15 and it works fine for having such a low profile. I wanted the black to break up the chrome/silver ice of the2015 LTZ. It was ( still needs a black Z71 grill) sickening to me.

I like the front end on your truck way bet. Good choice and looks good!!

That is a pretty sick color match, just because it's not the run of the mill color like black, white, blue...

Be safe brother, I have a few of my troops deployed down there to help out...

I appreciate it man. We're away from it now in North Mississippi staying with some friends. But I have friends on Facebook now scrambling to leave. I even told a few yesterday that I could get them a hotel . Most native Floridians are stubborn with hurricanes as its usually never as bad hyped. I've played outside in a bunch of category 3s. I ain't messing with this one though.

Good to hear you're outta there. How far did you get? I think you have to drive to like Oklahoma to get out of it completely. This thing is a monster.

 

 

For my latest mod, I'm installing 2016-17 LED headlights. I took it apart yesterday and removed the Morimoto HID harness.

 

I took some time to repaint the bracket holding my 4 Baja Designs S2 lights. The black paint had flaked off the aluminum and it was noticeably visible through the grill. I'm also thinking about changing the switch circuit for them. Currently, 2 wide beam lights are wired to the fog lights. I did this when I had stock fog lights. I've since installed Rigid SAE/DOT fogs and want less light available. I'm thinking about hooking them to the long range S2 lights, which are triggered off the high beams.

      I have the same running boards on my truck and I do agree they are bulky. I also find myself stepping over them when getting in and out of the truck. Besides providing protection to the rocker panels, they aren't very useful.  I will be replacing them soon with the Amp Powersteps.

      Monthly payment is only part of the equation. With today's prices and interest rates, I'd look at the total monthly cost: payment, insurance, registration, fuel, maintenance, and expected repairs. A vehicle that fits comfortably into your budget is usually the better choice than stretching for a higher trim. I've also kept my vehicles longer over the past few years. New cars have gotten expensive enough that driving one for 10+ years, while staying on top of maintenance, often ends up being the most cost-effective approach.

      Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
