Anyone with a Z71 better check your gears

Waiting for new starter to arrive, which has been delayed by the weather down south.

Are they replacing your starter with a fool proof substitute - a hand crank?

 

Honestly, if GM cannot install a reliable starter on a 2014 $ 50k truck, they should go back to hand cranks.

Can't see, picture too small but check under the options and pricing on the window sticker and it should tell you what gear is on the truck. The first picture shows what would be standard features

Yes my window sticker says standard equip. 3.42. But options list says 3.08 installed. You have to look to the right side of window sticker.

Standard equipment should say 3.08 and 3.42 should be under intstalled options if equipped

The 3:42 was the standard gear. It also says that it had a 4.3L V6. The option is the 5.3L V8 with 3:08 gears if I'm looking at this right.

Yes you are looking right. All trucks standard with v6 everything else options

I don't understand the confusion people are having. It is pretty straight forward.

Mine read standard 5.3l 3.08 gearing, and in the options listed 3.42. I used the RPO code in the glove box to confirm the gearing before I purchased the vehicle.

My sticker shows 4.3L, 3.42 Standard and, 5.3L, 3.42 Options.

I didn't say I was right. I said "should". It is what was logical in my head. So the fuel mileage is optional. Nice to see a half way decent gear is standard

It probably depends on model for standard. My is LT standard V6 LTZ standard V8

Mine read the same way

342 standard and then in the options was 308

 

Mine runs well and has plenty o power

 

It has the trailer brakes and I hope a trans cooler for towing

Biggest thing I will tow will be a 12' camper and only a few times a year

 

Do you guys think I will be ok

If not could you not always change the gears to 3.42

I think knp is the trans cooler rpo. I have to double check. Just got to my soon to be ex-house. Spent my day prepping the new one. Ill look it up after I shower for you

KNP is aux trans cooler

 

But you could always upgrade like I did
