lol well if it didn't interfere the trim piece would say airbag. But it doesn't on mine. Unless somehow magically the trim piece Flys away from the pressure and ends up injuring the person more then the crash did lol

Notice how the passenger side doesn't say airbag. My guess is they knew it wouldn't deploy so they didn't put one.

I just got off the Chevy's accessories page on 4/4/2014 and noticed the driver's interior assist handle was removed from their site. They are not offering it anymore. Is Chevy out of stock or is there a problem with the handle as noted in the previous notes?

I ordered mine last week and it was reinstalled yesterday, first one they ordered came all scratched up. I love it.

Mine finally came in yesterday and I installed it today. Took about 10 minutes, very easy. Looks and works great!

Did mine today and it took less than 10 min. Just pull out on the top to release the only metal clip and then I was able to reach behind it and lift the black tab holding the middle section in place and after that it came right out. New one went in with no problems

Has anyone looked behind the passenger side to see if there is an airbag?

 

Is it possible that the bag is removed or de-activated when the handle is installed?

Ordered mine from ShopChevyParts was $48 shipped and showed up today. Only took two days. I'll install it tomorrow. Probably only use until I get my steps in few weeks, but I think it will look nice also.

the original one had a clip holding it so it wouldn't freely away when the airbag inflates. With this the airbag will inflate, but since this piece is held by 2 bolts to the frame the air bag won't go anywhere. Therefore my guess is that it will not serve is purpose lol.

There are no airbags in the A-pillar on either side. Therefore, the handle should have no effect either way. The only air bags are dash/steering wheel and curtain on the B-pillar.
