The reason there is not one on the drivers side is you use the steering wheel itself.

how some of these threads get to 28 pages is beyond me.

Yes, but you realize there's an option to purchase the handle and install yourself, right? When the thread was started (a long time ago) it was difficult to find one for replacement. Then people stated their opinions about whether or not they were needed. After that, when the parts became readily available people talked about deals and the actual install itself. Some people had issues and needed help, and there were concerns about the side curtain airbag.

Of course, you would know this because you read all 28 pages. And of course, because you have already read this entire thread, you would know you are only repeating what others stated already (post #20, page 2).

My point is new, and something other's might not have thought about...having a drivers assist handle might not be safe in some crash situations.

I installed one of these several months ago and this thread assisted me in the purchase and installation process. The steering wheel may serve as a help, but I doubt it is intended to negate the function of an assist handle. Some of us need more assistance to get in and out of our vehicles and it is good to have such options available.

I installed one in my 1500 to assist with seat wear that was becoming apparent around 20k miles.

I then traded up to a 2500 that came with one, and the importance of it is much more apparent in the taller truck. I'm 6'1" and still find it useful. Using the steering wheel is a terrible idea. Totally jacks the thing up.

If you need one to match the Cocoa/Dune interior, get in touch with me; I've got one I can't use on my Tahoe.

Is there a non handle for the passenger side? I don't like the handle and I was wondering if there's a handle delete available?

That's different... I think everyone is adding the handle, not taking away

I don't see one listed on GM Canada's accessory page, just the handles. It's safe to say you would be able to order a non-handle, but would need to see your local parts department to look up the part number (I'm sure someone on here will also have it. Never ceases to amaze me the info these members have!).
