I give up. This is the second handle I've tried and it just doesn't line up without leaving a gap at the bottom. There's no other way for me to line the two holes up without having the gap. It's gonna drive me absolutely insane every time I get in the truck! Is anyone else's like this?7d0badd4db7104010a92b216f3e5b8d5.jpg

The bottom edge should slide between the speaker and the pillar. The bottom should be put in first, then the top.

Oh I know, when I do that, the only way to line the holes up for the bolts is to then pull up on the handle to line them up. When I do that, I'm left with the gap at the bottom. I don't see anyway around it.

I'm starting to think that the mounting holes aren't lined up correctly on my truck. But it's welded to the pillar so I can't very well move them.

Upon further inspection, now I'm pretty sure it's the dash thats "sagging in that corner. I can fit my hand in there and pull up a good 1/2 inch. If the dash would stay that way it would then hide the gap. But how do I make the dash stay in the upward position? Shove something underneath it?

Just send me the handle then! Lol. I'd try and remove the whole front panel and try to re-seat it. Maybe it's off a little and causes it to sag in the corner like that.

I installed the handle on my 2014 Sierra last week. After I got it on, the exact same thing happened. There was a gap in the exact spot as yours, I took it back off and looked at it not sure there was any other way to get around the gap I almost boxed it up and sent it back. But upon trying again you need to install it back making sure you're lining up the bottom flush with the edge of the dash. Once you get the bottom lined up without the gap you can snap in the top but as you do, you need to keep some downward pressure on it and somewhat rotate the entire piece slightly clockwise around its axis towards you (this will make a small gap between the top edge of the molding and the glass on your windshield (which makes a gap there but is impossible to see). Then holes will be very slightly misaligned with the holes on the molding being a little further down toward the dash than the holes in the metal brackets. The provided screws will go in no problem and once fully tight the gap will be gone I had to mess with it a few times but it will work just keep at it.

paint the handle piece black and it'll hide the gap. I didn't have a gap on mine but the grey pillars sitting next to the black seats drove me insane, so now all my pillars are black. Ceiling is on the eventual list to get redone black

I almost think your speaker grill is what the issue is.

That's why the handles are not fitting right.

Just bought one of these yesterday. Should be here early next week. Had one on my last truck and definitely miss it.

To remove OEM trim and install new one with handle;

  • Wash Hands
  • Grasp the upper section of trim molding using finger tips near intersection with headliner
  • Pull back upon the trim with a gentle yet solid light jerk to disengage it
  • With the trim molding pulled back approx 3" reach behind it and disconnect the wire clip holder
  • Remove trim
  • Remove the snap in bolt covers from the new A-pillar trim by pressing in on the snap holds from the inner side and set aside
  • Position new trim molding in place starting at the lower end where it intersects with the windshield and top of dash
  • Run your finger along its vertical edge to pull the weather back and to position it so that it lays over/covers the edge of the trim molding I
  • Insert bolts and tighten
  • Insert snap in bolt covers and your done.
Not that it was hard but the instructions helped. Thanks

For anyone interested I bought mine from a GM dealer on amazon and was $42 with free prime shipping. Not sure if good deal or not, just bought it since I was buying something else from amazon and had a gift card
