GM is full of CRP. The company that makes the radios said this problem effects 50% of the radios,GM is certainly aware and is dragging its feet because of cost. I have spoken twice to the Director of Ibiquity about this, They swear they are trying to move this along because this hurts their brand as well. Even though my dealer says there have been no complaints I have spoken to many in this area that go to this dealer, they have all reported it. The dealer lies as much as the parent company.

All that I can relate is my personal experience. My 2009 Sierra had better reception on FM the stations my favorite fades out about 10 miles before my old truck. Not a big deal to me I just figured it was a difference in the setup. It is noticeable when coming directly from one to the other is all. Everything has its limitations I guess. I recently saw a post where a bunch of owners found out that the ring around there control knobs is supposed to light up but theirs didn't so they were mad a as hornet.

Haven't noticed an issue with my radio. The only time i get suspect reception is when sitting at a traffic light under a utility pole and lines.

don't let some of the complainers stop you from getting this truck. I have had this truck since 12/5/13(ish) and I have not had any problems so far (knock on wood). all I listen to is the digital radio channels like (i.e. 100.3 HD-2) and not the regular radio stations (i.e. 100.3 HD-1). it does periodically loose HD signal sometimes but that is just the way it is. i ride in my buddies 2013 f150 with HD radio and his does the exact same thing. i don't think it's a GM thing as its still new technology that is not perfect. i seriously have no complaints on the vehicle myself. i have one wish and that is that these trucks headlights came as HID's or LED's but honestly it doesn't bother me that much as the rest of the truck is awesome.

Just make sure which ever truck you're going to buy you test drive enough and make sure it's all legit and working perfect. Most seem to figure out issues post purchase.. Then get all butt hurt about it cause they didn't do enough evaluation prior to buying. I know 7 people that own the new 14 model and non of them have had any issues and love the truck.

The most annoying issue is the FM reception in my 14 as well as the HD signal constantly going in and out. I would test drive one just as others have mentioned. For now the biggest two problems are is that the radio is integrated with the vehicle settings so you cannot easily purchase an aftermarket radio and go on your way. The biggest problem is that GM has not come up with a fix. You just have to live with it. Sure you have choices like XM, pandora, etc.. but you shouldn't be denied good reception in a 2014 vehicle to your local stations that are commonplace still in today's world.

The first thing I would always change was the radio, then they came out with Radios with plug in jacks. Now I just add an amp and speakers. Factory radios always suck nothing new. Most people Here add wheels and lifts, not many people complain about those wimpy tires and wheels. Most people I know go thru their phone anyway, what the heck is FM anyway?

Not that it will be a big deal for me either way but I picked up my new silverado on Saturday and it was a 2 hour commute one way to get the truck. I made the commute quite often in my 1998 silverado and from point A to point B I found 2 different radio stations I listen to when I frequent the area. Going either direction I always had strong signal through roughly 3/4 of my trip then I'd flip to the other and it would be perfect. After picking up my new one Saturday I made the same trip and radio station A faded out long before half way through the trip and station B, normally the stronger station of the 2 didn't pick up until long after half way through the drive.

I think the big difference is the great sounding system when getting "HD" fm reception and the intermittently going in and out between that and regular fm. If you're I'm a spotty area and turn off the hd radio feature I find it has more consistent reception

Like others have said, test drive it. I went directly from a 2011 Silverado LT to a 2014 Silverado LTZ. The FM reception in my '14 is definitely not as good as it was in the '11. With the '14, it fades in and out on the same stations where the '11 was solid. I actually have changed to listening to an HD station (2nd favorite) because the HD is awesome for me. In any event, I have no other complaints and do not regret the trade in in the least - I would do it again. I love my 2014 because it is so much nicer in many ways.

 

Test drive and drive and drive until you are satisfied.

I am in Houston and the Bose radio in HD sounds fantastic. The only time it had faded out, even completely cut out for 10 seconds or so was when I drove to Galveston to do some fishing. Galveston has terrible reception period for radio, phones etc.

Isn't HD radio like digital tv? You either have a signal or not? No marginal reception like the regular stations. That may be the biggest difference if we are going from one technology to another. Kind of like comparing apples to oranges. Just my thoughts and please correct me if I am wrong.

I lose reception quite often on 100.3-2 and 97.5 (non-HD) and I only live in Crosby. In my F-150, I would lose 100.3-2 occassionally, but never 97.5.

      I'm not sure if this should be a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - AC Delco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles, 119k total miles.  When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so I did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out, it could've been the wrong fluid. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material, scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance. I had a panic stop prior to this issue which may have contributed from what I read. And on the first attempt to bleed and hydraulic test the scanner listed things to look for and one was any gaps between the pad and rotors which I did notice on the RF corner and I removed the outer pad (where the gap was) cleaned it and the hardware and didn't see a gap after that but will re-check it. I read that if pushing the caliper pistons back then you're supposed to open the bleeder so as to not push fluid backwards into the abs module or it will damage it. If that's true then that's also a possibility from the previous owner having the brakes changed before I got it. I'm using an XTool ip500 scanner. Any suggestions, questions and comments welcome.

      Next Friday will be my 6 week point from my right knee replacement.  The surgeon says it will be fine if I choose to drive after this checkup.  I know I could drive now but best to do as my surgeon (and my wife) tell me.  Richard compared being 62 to 72.  I remember when I was in my early 60's I was experiencing slow but regular decline in my mobility.  Thanks to good medical support,  i continued to fight the speed and spread of this decline. During my 60's I worked on non-surgical methods and just when I turned 70, my orthopedic surgeon recommended joint replacements.  In a little over a year, I had one shoulder and both knees replaced.  This hasn't been a terribly fun experience, but worth the discomfort as my future mobility health trajectory has reversed.  It is a treat to now be watching my mobility. balance and confidence steadily improve!
