Basically all the crap about corrosion protection the GM is applying is a total bite in the ass for them. I wonder if they have any feeling of complete failure. I mean if you you post it publicly you better prove it, well its a little late for that. So pathetic, isn't it. Appanently they don't know what extensive means! Oh and they state "enhances the trucks appearance" LOL so hard that is hurts. These trucks already look 8 plus years old underneath. What a joke.

I'm sure some do, I was being sarcastic when I quoted GM's statement. I guess manufactures can claim anything nowadays without worrying about repercussions. I guess the frame rust and undercoat flaking off enhanced the trucks appearance. lol

If you read their advertisement for the upgraded corrosion protection, it only applies to the body and says nothing about the frame. So technically, they're correct in their public posting. Sh!tty, but correct. Only a seasoned GM owner who knows about the wax coated frames would catch that they left this out of their advertisement so to the general public, they get away with it.

They haven't used that slogan since like '99 haha! I guess you could argue they've quietly backed away from their "like a rock" claim over the years.

As an original owner, I bought a '87 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Demonstrator model and the undercarriage was sprayed with a Line-X type coating. After 28 years, the coating is still there.

Haven't we been thru this before, they specifically state "chassis" and guess what, the chassis consists of the frame.

"An example of a chassis is the underpart of a motor vehicle, consisting of the frame (on which the body is mounted)."

Have we? Haha sorry I don't remember reading that but I guess it does state it. I thought there was promotional video that showed them spraying the rock-guard and stuff and the frame was never addressed from what I remember. Anyway I don't know how it can be improved it's a worse wax coating than what they used to use.

Does anyone think this issue from the factory may have stopped after certain build dates?

Build dates 03/14 and up have an additional clear wax sprayed over the black stuff. Its a lot harder and I have 0 issues with rust on mine.

Probably what was suppose to be done at the start of the 2014's but GM figured they would save a few bucks on the early builds.

My frame is horrible looking, The entire thing is orange colored with surface rust. I have not see any other new vehicle look this bad. Not even my 2005 tacoma that had to have the frame replaced due to rust. I plan on pressure washing it good this summer and getting under there and doing a good job at painting some sort of frame paint on it. I am not a fan of the thick gunky undercoating.

My truck was an August 2014 Build and I have found that the frame is rusting where there were welds or joints. The flat surface of the frame itself seems to be holding up alright. I know it's just cosmetic and the frames not going to rust through and break but it sure is annoying.

Even though the frame is not likely to rust through for a number of years, it should be properly protected from corrosion, including the welds. It is not exactly made of two inch thick plate steel.

It's a fully boxed frame, not c channels. That's one of the reasons they dip it in wax to properly coat the interior surfaces of the boxed frame.

      Open Door Chimes When Key is Out

      2020 2500 HD...I had some trouble getting the key into the ignition switch but went in fine after applying some extra effort. Since then, the door chimes when open when the key is out of the ignition. Also, when I lock the doors with the switch on the arm rest, the driver door locks but then unlocks. (I can lock everything fine with the fob) The message on the little screen displays the "Engine Hours"...kinda weird.   I'm guessing something happened to the ignition switch and it thinks the key is still in there. I unplugged the batteries for 20 minutes, no change. There are a number of videos on YouTube but nothing I can find that address this specific issue. Ideas appreciated, thank you.

      Based on what I can tell, yes.   As for updating it, its a mixed bag.  Updates do fix a lot of issues, but occasionally can create some oddities.  They do more good than harm though overall.     Here's what the most current one does and a  V171 Improvements Important: Improvements will vary by model, build configuration, system, and sales region. Not all vehicles have all features. OnStar and Wi-Fi may not work after remote start CarPlay may not automatically reconnect Part of the Driver Attention messaging screen may be in English even though the language is set to something else XM may not work After a dead 12V the radio may set to Arabic at each startup Bluetooth contacts might not be able to sync with the vehicle During an OTA the 12V battery may drain Customer might see a screen telling them to return to the dealer After changing the Wi-Fi SSID or password a device may not disconnect If a device is connected on the 2.4Ghz band, nothing will connect to the 5Ghz one, which could show as slow Wi-Fi speeds Customers might have noticed Wi-Fi dropping in certain areas and reconnecting later Customer might see the top of the screen blinking during Android Auto Android Auto may not connect CarPlay audio might momentarily cut out The "Add Phone" button may be grayed out The radio may not start up   V167 Most Notable Improvements:   Outside Air Temperature is incorrect. -You may see a popup message for Engine Shift.       Front End Rattle

      Looking for help troubleshooting a metallic like front end rattle. Figured I’d see if anyone had thoughts before I schedule an appointment with the dealer.   The rattle is fairly loud and occurs primarily when the front driver side wheel hits a bump, even fairly minor road seams. Sometimes does it when the passenger hits a bump but I don’t believe when the rear hits. Rattle still occurs when foot is pressing brake peddle so I think that rules out the caliper rattle I’ve read about. I’ve also checked the running boards and they are tight.   Most noticeable at slow speeds.    Any insight is appreciated.

      We try to make cruise the coast. It’s where our favorite casino is. I only want to spectate. Never took a car. Always had one to take. I belonged to a club once. Even when I used to drag raced. It was during test and tune. Probably because I’m not a night owl, party person.
