Underhood light.......

Whatever happened to having a light under the hood of our trucks? Anyone remember the older Trucks having a light on the hood or even the ones that had a retactable wire? Has anyone added one to thier 2014?

 

I am thinking of coming up with something this weekend.

Not sure why but don't think they've had them for 10 years. Can't remember them being good for much, but I believe there was a thread a few months ago about adding. a search should find it.

I recall the lights and the one on a retractable line. And as I recall the retractable one was just as useless as the other stationary light. They didn't put out much bright light. One of the new LED styles may be more useful. I'll just keep a flashlight handy.

Magnet light + aluminum hood = no sticky This idea would work great on the GMT-900 and older body styles, though.

Lots of portable, battery powered, LED work lights on Amazon. Although the magnet doesn't work on the 2014 hood, there is a nice hanger that can also be used as a stand.

Funny that the hood lights are still being installed on the full size GM vans. A '14 at work has one, and it looks like the one that was used on the GMT800's.

I added some lights under the hood, helps a lot when you are working in there at night.
