I just bought some relays today at RadioShack, I was planning to do this mod but I am not sure where to put these diodes. Where do I find all those wires? Hood, side door panel?

Thank you,

-Dylan.

Under driver side dashboard. Tucked up under the dash. Not the big black box on the forward firewall

Does anyone have the link for the fogs on with high or can just tell me what other slot to put the other end of the diode in. I can't quite make it out in the picture that is attached. What color wire do the 2 ends go in?

Did this tonight with just a piece of wire covered in Heat Shrink and push in metal ends. Works like a charm

Anyone notice that at times the mirror LEDs simply don't light up at all or are very dim? I had another member ask me about it, no more and more curious as it's becoming more frustrating daily to wonder if this mod will work right?..

does anyone know what slot the reverse and puddle lights are? I've got the new tow mirrors and have that 2 led in the mirror hooked to my puddle lights right now. if i could just jump that connection under the dash that'd be a lot easier then running a straight wire all the way through the door panel and grommet and whatever like i had to do for the amber markers to blink and be running lights

Yes I did it in the tow mirror thread. I'll see if I can dig up the info, I know the cargo light wire is the grey with light green stripe and I think it's in the first connector all the way to the left (closest to the parking brake)

I have tried twice to get this mod to work so that the leds on tow mirrors will turn on. I can not get that puddle light to turn on tho :tear:

I just did mod. I was getting a little frustrated cus every time I would try to push the lead inside it would bend. Finally got it done and it works great.

Did not work for me. The Cargo light will come with reverse lights on when I hit the unluck on key fob but when truck is in reverse no reverse lights come on or no cargo lights. I have the correct diode part and installed just as your picture?

Okay so I was inspired by 2 threads here, one being the fog lights on with high beams, which I did and love. The other is a thread about putting a switch in the bed by the tailgate to turn on the cargo lights. That's a great idea but I wanted something simpler, so using the info in the fog light thread, and the link to the wire diagrams, I found the relay switch wires for the cargo lights and the reverse lights then used an extra diode from the fog light trick to connect the two. Now when it's dark and you unlock your doors with the remote, which activates the headlights and reverse lights, the cargo lights come on as well. This does activate the lights by the third brake light as well as the lights in the bed, just as if you pushed the switch on the dash. This is going to activate the cargo lights when you put the truck in reverse also, which will provide more light behind the truck, but it may glare off the rear window as well. I will be testing this tonight to see if I like it or not.

The reverse light relay wire is in the same brown plug as the fog lights. Number 26, its brown with 2 blue stripes.

The cargo light relay wire is also number 26, brown wire white stripe, but it's in the pink plug to the left of the brown plug.

I used the other diode from the 2 pack I bought to do the fog lights ( part # 1N004). The stripe goes toward the cargo lights in the pink plug.

As long as there's not too much glare to see while reversing at night then this should be a handy little trick!!

[/quote Hey so this should work on a 2015 as well right?

    • Looking for help troubleshooting a metallic like front end rattle. Figured I’d see if anyone had thoughts before I schedule an appointment with the dealer.   The rattle is fairly loud and occurs primarily when the front driver side wheel hits a bump, even fairly minor road seams. Sometimes does it when the passenger hits a bump but I don’t believe when the rear hits. Rattle still occurs when foot is pressing brake peddle so I think that rules out the caliper rattle I’ve read about. I’ve also checked the running boards and they are tight.   Most noticeable at slow speeds.    Any insight is appreciated.
    • We try to make cruise the coast. It’s where our favorite casino is. I only want to spectate. Never took a car. Always had one to take. I belonged to a club once. Even when I used to drag raced. It was during test and tune. Probably because I’m not a night owl, party person.
    • We had a pretty big cars and coffee in Indy this past weekend.  Pretty much anything and everything was there.
    • Good looking Olds, and TRX!   I haven't been into car shows either. I'm probably not a convert but I did push myself this year to attend a few select events to challenge some assumptions and try to experience car-based social clubs in a different way. I joined up with the local Hagerty group for some cars/coffee events, group drives. A month ago I showed my '94 Camaro I rescued last fall at Radwood. Had a good time, but, there was some sitting around with the car and that's the part of shows I don't enjoy as much. I prefer to be a spectator, walk the show, grab a burger, go home.   Radwood was the only era-limited event, but where it had strict model year limitations, it made it up in variety. Having Jason Camissa there was also a hoot.   Where I see old 50's car shows, doo-wop and winga dinga music stuff fading out, same with "only" vintage muscle clubs, it seems to be the activity-based clubs/events which are gaining strong popularity. Places where all cars and interests come together.
