I drove 3 GM 2015 1500 trucks today

Well my 2015 6.2L w/8 speed transmission arrived today and what a disappointment.

 

The 6.2L power is so restrained by the AFM, 8 speed, and the 3.23 rear axle ratio that there's no point of even getting it. It didn't seem to have any more power than my 2014 5.3L w/6 speed.

 

Ok so here is what I drove and the results. GM hasn't learned a damn thing, the quality on the 2015's are equally as bad as the 2014's.

 

1. 2015 Silverado 6.2L/8 speed/3.23: vibration in the floorboard and accelerator pedal, slight shake at 50mph.

 

2. 2015 Silverado 5.3L/6 speed/3.42: vibration in the floorboard and accelerator pedal, a very bad shake that starts at 35MPH. The entire truck was shaking, I don't know how it was even released from the plant. Much worse than the ones I've seen in the you tube videos. I said to the salesman, do you feel that, he said yes and it's pretty bad.

 

3. Top of the line, cream of the crop, $55,600, 2015 GMC denali with 5.3L/6 speed/3.42: as soon as I get in I notice that there is a large gap between the dash and the driver's side vent, then I notice that the cocoa dune dash is warped up by the windshield, this is one of the complaints with the 2014's. Then I drive it and it vibrates the floorboard and accelerator pedal.

 

Well needles to say I won't be getting a GM product and that means I will lose my trade assistance.

 

GM quality sucks and they haven't learned a damn thing from the 2014's, they just keep pushing them out the door. I don't think quality is even part of their business strategy anymore.

At this point I'm over this crap, they just lost this customer permanently.

I'm thinking about adding a second '14 1500 to the fleet. My 6.2 has been absolutely flawless, fit and finish is excellent. By fat the best truck on the road as far as I'm concerned. If you're ever in NC you are invited to come drive mine and you'll see not all these K2's are bad. With that said, I don't blame you for leaving. If I had your experience I wouldn't have even given them a second chance like you attempted to do. I wish you well with whatever vehicle you do decide to purchase.

Yeah, not only am I losing my trade assistance, I'm losing the down payment I gave the dealership to order a 2015 6.2L. This sucks because I love the 14/15 GM truck exterior and interior.

Wow 3 crappy trucks in one day and your own truck being junk? Sounds like GM has a curse against you or there's some sort of GM anomaly in the place you live.....time for you to make a stop at your local Ford or Ram dealer. My truck has been great.

Sorry to hear about the bad test drives for you. My 14 has 14k miles and I've had the stock 18's with the Goodyear SRAs with no problem and also the 20s with Continentals that are problem-free as well. The truck may turn into a steaming heap, but for the past 1 1/2 years it's been great with no issues, only the recalls having to be performed. I hope you can find one as trouble-free as most of us have.

This is ridiculous. First, "the point" of getting the 6.2 in a truck is for towing. The AFM, TM, etc, has basically no effect when using the truck for this purpose.

 

If what you're after is laying rubber in the school parking lot, having it feel like a "hotrod" while driving it around, or drag racing it, all the "restraints" can be fixed with a tune for a couple hundred bucks.

 

I know, I know, WARRANTY!!!! Think about this--you're throwing away thousands of dollars in trade in allowance, deposit, depreciation, for sure, because you're afraid there might be a very, very small chance you'll have an expensive powertrain failure and have your warranty denied.

 

At some point one needs to take responsibility for his own happiness. Throwing away thousands of dollars instead of buying the vehicle you want and having it tuned and being happy might not be the smartest move.

 

Like the guy above, I'm thinking if you're bound and determined to feel a vibration, you'll probably feel one in anything you drive. All vehicles vibrate while going down the road. It's a matter of degree.

Ya I second that you were almost looking for something wrong and when you felt a vibration you jumped to too many conclusions. Especially it seems like most of your post on here is about the vibration issue.

 

Also I don't think they can keep your down payment unless you signed something that said they could. I've read on here where someone ordered a '14 or '15 and changed their mind on what they wanted and didn't have to pay anything. Technically if you order a vehicle it still belongs to the dealer until you sign the paperwork.

 

If you don't want a GM anymore then go ahead and get a Ram or Ford. Too be honest you'll probably find stuff wrong with them too and still not buy anything or still not be happy with it.

 

I've had my '14 since April and I haven't had any issues at all. Just the 2 recalls, but I wasn't having any trouble with anything. Honestly the only things I don't like are things that I can live with, get used to or easily fix or change. Hell the biggest problem was that it was too quiet so I had everything from the muffler back taken off and had a Flowmaster put under there.

Like others pointed out you were just looking for it and would have found it regardless, it was probably just the road. Why are you even comparing the others to your truck, that is just trolling for issues. Who cares if another truck has gap in the dash, does yours? You didn't mention it does. Who cares if another truck has a bad vibration, yours doesn't. Stop using other trucks issues as a basis for yours. If there is a ever so slight vibration give the dealer a chance to fix, if you love everything about the truck why not wait instead of just whinning and complaining about the smallest stuff, some of which doesn't even apply to your truck? Could be as simple as a poorly balanced tire from the factory?

 

The AFM isn't restricting the power it is the torque management. It is a newly deisgned transmission with new computers attached to it, let it learn your driving before jumping the gun. It is well know the computer learns driving and shifting as you go, give it some time

 

If anything enjoy the other brands and their unbeleivable reputation for reliability (ecoboost), quality (Ram) and strength (tundra's wet noodle they call a frame), maybe you should buy a Lexus instead? Well bye.
