Possible New Sierra

I'm looking at a pretty loaded up 2015 Sierra 1500 All Terrain with the 6.2l engine. They need to trade with another dealer so I haven't seen it yet. They are offering decent trade in and money off msrp. What issues should I be looking for? I've read about the vibration issues and a few other mechanical issues in these forums but what about fit and finish? Is there any specific areas to look for? Is there any other mechanical issues people are having that haven't been talked about in these forums? Any advice would be welcome.

I just want to be sure before pulling the trigger on a truck this expensive.

Headlights and paint sucks. Other than that mine's been a good truck. Mine's a 5.3 Double Cab SLE Z71 4x4, with 3.42 gear ratio.

I've had mine since September 2013.

May just be a personal preference, but as far as the headlights go I would choose the Chevy. Fact of the matter is they are the same truck, the chevy is wired up for two bulbs in the 2014+ trucks instead of for the projector lights. You will also see a few grand lower on the sticker price and your ultimate purchase price. Just my thoughts.

Just curious, why is the paint bad?

The Government mandated that all new vehicles are painted with Water-based paint since 2006 (?) I believe. It's not just these trucks, all kinds of vehicles are having paint issues, at least that's what the guy who installed my paint protection film told me.

Go with a Chevy--Sierra lights may look better aesthetically but operationally they S U C K! If you don't believe all the negative believers here, at least drive one of these at night before you sign a thing.

Yeah I beleive this goes back to 2009ish, my camaro that was 10 had the new paint. Problem with it is, it seems thinner and will chip easier. But really your not going to get away from that as any new vehicle thats at least domesticly made will have the same water based paint.

I have a GMC I see fine at night and Im 59, I did pull the blocks in the back to lower it a bit. Some say that's why, but I don't get flashed so they cant be too high.

Jesus people. The headlights aren't that bad. Just bad eye balls.

OP, if its a good deal, get the Sierra. Take it for a spin and try to get some highway time in it before you sign the papers though. I;m sure you will enjoy the 6.2 with the 8 speed.

BIGDOGx and fondupot I let my dislike for the "as produced" factory lighting block the OPs initial quest for info on securing a good deal. I love my truck but to me the lighting leaves a lot to be desired, my 81 Olds with halogen sealed beams lights the road better than my Sierra,

If you're happy with the numbers--get it you won't be disappointed.

I traded in my 2010 Sierra AT for my 2014 Sierra 6.2L AT and love it, wouldn't go back for any reason. They are great trucks, and like said the headlights are not that bad. I raised mine as well and have not been flashed and can see just fine.

i wouldnt worry too much about headlights. Worse comes to worse you can always do a HID kit for $100 bucks .

Not the geratest lights but certainly not the worst either.

The issues and concerns some of us are having seem to be coming on as more milage gets put on . Rattles, clunks , nothing you will be able to pin point right away . They are good trucks , look great as well. I just wish GM would care a little more about quality . Either way im sure the 6.2 and 8 speed will bring smile to your face

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the deal still hasn't been made. The dealer my salesman is trying to work with doesn't really want to let it go. The A/T Sierras with the 6.2 are amazingly hard to find!
