Didn't expect to see the most wanted feature to be better infotainment. Coming from a BMW, I was just happy to have bluetooth music streaming from my phone without having to pay huge money for a module. What is it that everyone wants in the infotainment? The only thing I could see to add would be streaming google maps from my phone to the screen.

I'd like to see higher quality and a diesel offered. I drove a Jetta TDI for over 150k and really liked the power output of the engine compared to gas. Maintenance wasn't bad on it. The diesel that would go into the trucks wouldn't be the behemoth that is offered in the 2500, so gallons of oil, huge DEF consumption, etc wouldn't factor in.

I agree, it's not that I have a hatred towards the motor, it's just kind of bothersome to know they use the same 3.5L engine from their crossovers, to pickup trucks to vans to the new GT40 concept....

Ya that's what I mean. I don't think it's a bad idea, but again they made it seem like it's some revolutionary thing when there's been turbo V6s in import cars for years and hot rodders would take turbos off diesels and put them on their 30s hot rods. As I said, I don't like how they're pushing it on everything. First it was the new Raptor and when I saw it was put in that GT(GT40) concept I knew it was all over. You know they''ll eventually not offer a V8 in the Mustangs except maybe the GT500. I'm fine with the Ecoboost being an option, but there should still be a naturally aspirated V8 also as an option. Also I'm not much of a turbo guy unless it's on a diesel of course. I'm more of a supercharger/blower type guy. The only non diesel turbos I like are the ones where they're starting to make the turbo lag minimal since that's what I don't like about turbos. I guess I'd rather have the instant power while losing a little with the pulley system than a turbo that uses a lot less engine energy but has a lag in power and it has to be spooled up to made power.

Paint that sticks to metal, metal that doesn't dent when you touch it, headlights that are bright enough to see...

Interesting, my 2015 came with all of that standard.

Flat floor in the cabs would also be great.

Small stuff gm forgot about.

I want a Summit white crew A/T because as much as I love the Sonoma, and thought it was time for a change I think I screwed up and should have stuck with white

A Truck Tailgate Hideaway System.

My '14 too.

Here's what I'd like to see.

RELIABILITY - #1

Affordability #1.2

A revolution in engineering that produces a fueling, electrical, and emission system that ANYONE can fix. Easy access to parts. Easy maintenance. An OBD-II interface in the dash that tells you EXACTLY what part failed without 15 hours of troubleshooting to find it when the truck is 20 years old. Don't worry GM and techs - you'll still have people coming in for service. Trust me on that!

AFFORDABLE PARTS ... IF they do fail.

Horsepower on demand feature. Dial in anything from 10 to 1,000 RWHP at the flick of a dial. Same with fuel - instantly switch between diesel, gas, or whatever you have onhand that burns.

Infinite ratio rear differential, with a 5-speed manual/automatic transmission, with a collapsible telescoping stick shift & a flip up clutch pedal, for when in automatic mode. Automatic mode just uses an electric servo to change gears and push the clutch for you. Cassette style, so if a failure occurs, you can pull the entire gear assembly out by removing 4 bolts and sliding the entire assembly right out. Same with the clutch - no more dropping the transmission ... unless you want to upgrade to the 2-speed full race transmission. Either that or a CVT that WORKS and can handle the power.

In cab adjustable suspension with 15" of travel, air adjustable preload, rebound, and compression, and the ability to store up to 20 one-touch suspension combinations.

All for less than $20 grand.

When that happens, I'll be the first in line at the GM dealership - I promise you that!

I don't know if your post was meant as fun or sarcasm.

But this would be a start:

RELIABILITY - #1

Affordability #1.2

...

All for less than $20 grand.

100% serious. I'd be tempted to visit a dealership for a test drive if even only the engineering aspects of my dream came true.

Stop putting bellhousing bolts 1mm away from the firewall, would be a great place to start ...

If people choose to do their own maintenance and repairs, HELP THEM! I'd be the first in line for a new truck if they did that, and kept the price under $20k

Back in the day, all the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers would include repair & maintenance tips and tricks right in the owners manuals. The bikes were so beautifully engineered & reliable that they sold millions of them. Almost put Harley out of business! Would have, if not for AMF ...

Trucks will never cost under 20k today.
