Kelly Blue Book (KBB) announced its 5-Year Cost To Own winners today. The GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab took the Full-size Pickup Truck Class, and the Chevy Colorado Crew Cab won the Mid-Size Pickup Class. Explaining what the KBB 5-Year CTO is, Dan Ingle, vice president of vehicle valuations for Kelley Blue Book, said, "Kelley Blue Book's 5-Year Cost to Own information evaluates the other out-of-pocket expenses drivers will incur beyond the initial purchase price, which helps consumers choose the vehicle that fits their needs and their long-term budget best, helping save money down the road." KBB's evaluations take into account depreciation, fuel costs, finance costs, insurance, maintenance and repair costs, and state registration and other fees.

General Motors vehicles were all over this list winning eight of the 22 categories of vehicles, more than any other automaker. Oddly, KBB named Subaru and Lincoln the overall brand winners, despite the fact that Subaru did not have a vehicle that was tops in any category. You can view the KBB report starting at the Sierra page here.
