So I went over to the body shop last week to see the progress on the truck. Snapped a few pics. Made me sick to my stomach...

New cab corner, new bedside, new rear passenger door. They said it would be getting painted soon. So I hope to have it back later this week or early next week.

:( I would feel the same way... I had my 06 get backed into and needed a whole front end.. Hope they do a good job.

How do you like your new coopers? 275/60r20?

They're great, quiet and comfortable. LT285/5520. They are considerably heavier than the stock tires (load range E), so I lost a bit of mileage when I added these, but not terrible. I was averaging around 17mpg in mixed driving.

It'll be as good as new soon.

Well, your frame coating looks good.

LoL.

There were actually a few places that could use a touch up. Would have been nice if they let me get in there and work on a few thing while the bed was off. Makes things a lot easier.

The only time I have seen them at the top is on a Sprint Car.....but there are also no dust boots on them. Are yours like that on your truck?

Posted

It depends on the shock. Some shocks are supposed to be installed with reservoir on bottom and others on top all depending on manufacturers install instructions

One more observation. Does it matter if the shock dust boots are top or bottom? I usually see them at the top.

My factory "Ranchos" have the faux plastic boots on top.

On the rear Bilstein's it doesn't matter if the shock is mounted boot up or boot down. Because it is a mono tube design It will function the same way no matter what.
