Best all terrain tire

TOYO Open Country AT2's. I use to run BFG All Terrains on every truck I owned, but I found the tread to wear quick and I would end up replacing them around 40,000 miles of use. Then I tried the TOYO's and never looked back, plus the TOYO's have a 60,000 mile pro rated warranty unlike the BFG's.

I do like the toyos how are they in the snow?

I do like the toyos how are they in the snow?

We have gotten a lot of snow during the last 2 winters where I live and I never once had an issue getting around.

This not going to help you, but I really liked the last set of General Grabber AT2's. They wore slowly, not noisy, and had the mountain/snowflake winter rating, and we're good in snow and ice. The Sierra I just got into came with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac's, in the new p (or euro as it may be) load rating. These are supposed to be brilliant in the snow/ice, and are suprizingly quiet and smooth in the dry, and look great. Unless these wear out quickly, I'll be buying them again.

Had the general AT2's on my jeep.. Wore like iron and were great in the snow.. Doesn't seem too many people on here use them.. A lot of people use them on the jeep forums, basically the same tire as the BF KO's but less expensive.. When the stock crap Goodyears go.. The generals will be going back on..

I run BFG AT TA KO on every truck I've ever had. And I've always gotten good mileage out of them. I know some people have not, but I think they run them with too much air in their tires. But personally I feel like they don't make a better AT tire. Pricey yes, but you get what you pay for.

Why aren't toyo and nitto on that list?

Tirerack doesnt sell them so they are not there. Lol. I still say Toyo and Nitto are the best. KO2's are a great tire with just as good traction but they have an old style and look to them.

Tires are a tough product to buy. Much of the information is subjective. You don't buy tires very often. They change over the years, even the very model you bought last. New tires come along. And, yeah, they cost a lot and therefore cost is almost always a consideration.

In the early 2000s, I found good wear and varied terrain traction with the Firestone Wilderness AT. They disappeared, then I went to a new truck in 2008 and bought the Toyo OC AT. The Toyo AT was great for all around road and off-road and wore very good. I bought two sets of them. In 2014, I bought Cooper ST Maxx and they have been great off-road and no so great on-road. I think I'll go back to a more conservative tread on the next set.

Throwing in my 2 cents. I have MasterCraft Coursair's on my '07 and they are a fantastic tire. Has great traction in all kinds of terrain and weather... but they do produce a good amount of noise. Fast forward to my '14 and after a lot of time researching I finally decided and bought the Cooper AT3's. So far I couldn't be happier. Not the most aggressive AT out there but that's why I like them. They add some muscle to the truck but don't over do it (for my taste of course). Haven't gotten the chance to use them in winter conditions YET but they were great in my first heavy down pour with a lot of sitting water. Best part of the AT3's though, they are very quiet for an AT tire. While not the best I included some pics if you were wondering how they'd look. Good luck!

I went with Falken Wild Peak ATs. They seem to be working fine. Good looking tire. They are quiet and good in the dirt. They like to find highway imperfections more than the Toyo ATs though. I think the KOs probably have the best ride quality of the three. Anyway, the Falken are worth consideration.

I agonized over picking out the right tire. I read, studied, and and researched big time. I had Duratrac's on my last truck, and they were great. But everytime I buy tires, I go through the same self torture. Ha! Anyhow, I did a 2" level on my truck, and decided to go with 275/70/18's on the factory wheels. I'm very happy with my decision, and have gotten lot's of compliments on the new look. I'm also quite surprised on how quiet these tires are. I've also run the General AT2's in the past with great success, but I wanted something more aggressive looking, with great street manners and snow/ice performance. These are Severe Snow Service rated, which was one of my requirements. (The little Mountain/Snowflake symbol on the tire) Here's the new tires:
