4.8l removing muffler thoughts

I have a 2006 gmc 4.8 and just want to know what peoples thoughts are on cutting off the muffler and welding a pipe in its place.

It will result in a loud truck that drone's going down the road. Also the tone will be harsh and unappealing to the ear.

 

You will get much better results with a flow master or similar muffler to give it a mellow muscle tone.

I too am going to do this to my 5.3... But i got on amazon and ordered flowmaster 40 series for like $90... 3 inch inlet 2.5 inch double outlets
